Hi,
Went to see Steve last Friday for his 'Songs and Stories' concert. I've seen him a few times, solo and with Show of Hands and always a good act. This gig was held at the unusual venue of the British Horological Society at Upton near Southwell, Notts. In true keeping with the venue it started about 20 minutes late!
I found this gig the best so far from Steve. Loosely tracing his career in music to the present it gave him the opportunity to cover many of his better known songs but also ones which were from much earlier days. Done in a very 'raconteur' style Steve also engaged the audience with information about the instruments he plays, different tunings and styles which was a great way to demonstrate the changes in his own style over the years. With ample smatterings of the usual digs at Phil (Beer) the whole show was a pleasure. This particular part of the tour is nearly over but he is doing the same thing for a few more dates in late summer/autumn so catch it if you haven't done so yet.
