Hey! We've just uploaded another video where I have a look at the new Synapse Personal PA from LR Baggs I was very impressed by the sound quality and ease of use of this bit of kit - the EQ section seems to be set up just right so there wasn't a lot of fiddling around, and the dispersion really was very even, making it easy to hear myself even with the amp off to one side. At over £2000, it is, admittedly, a lot of money for a two channel amplifier but the top AER amps are around the same price (although they have more channels), and the full Bose systems (with the tonematch) are up around there too, so it's not unprecedented for an acoustic amp to cost that much - and electric amps are quite regularly in this price range (and they all distort when you turn them up ). If you're looking for something smaller than a full PA but that still has the oomph and spread for a larger room (and you don't need a lot of bells and whistles) then it might be worth looking at...

Watched that on Youtube earlier - excellent review, esp with full frontals of the knobbage and how it sounds when tweaked. seems a natural sound - enjoyed the guitar/vocal bits a lot.
Good to see 48v phantom power separately switchable for each channel.
Interestingly wide dispersion - any undue propensity to feedback? Prob hard to tell until used "in anger" I suppose.
Is that a standard speaker stand used for mounting in the demo?
Wish I could justify the expense of owning one!
Excellent demo - thanks Ben.

Keith Thanks Keith - We managed to get it up pretty loud in the studio without feedback, although we made the decision to record at a lower level due to the studio being relatively small. I *think* the voicing of the eq would deal with 'normal' feedback quite well, unless you had a real resonant frequency you had to dial out, in which case you might need some sort of notch filter or external EQ. Having said that, the EQ section felt as if it's dialled in at just the right spots - if we found it a bit boomy, we only needed to nudge the bass back a little bit, and the same with the trebles and the mids - it reminded me a bit of the EQ on my Orchid, it doesn't look much, but it seems to work in the right places for acoustic instruments. And, yes, it fits on top of a normal speaker stand.

I enjoyed watching that as well although I'm not into knobbage as much as ocarolan Phil
