Just so we're not accused of only looking at expensive 'dream' guitars, here's a review of a £199 Tanglewood TWUD :
Although this guitar wasn't perfect in terms of playability, tone or fit & finish, I think it was more than acceptable for its price, and the playability could be easily improved I think with a professional setup.
I mention in the video that the sound was better from the player's position than on the recording which was interesting for me as it's something I have experienced with mahogany topped guitars before (I played a mahogany topped J45 once that sounded great when you played it, but awful out front - it was shocking the difference!)

Another excellent vid, Ben.
Interesting about the sound difference to the player/ outfront, which is the reverse of the usual situation.
The only mahogany (well, sapele) topped guitar I've played recently has a soundport, and does sound good out front so isn't a fair comparison. Interesting theory though...

Keith Yeah it was a weird one - I wonder if it was more that the top end was being projected but not the bass, so some of the 'scratchiness' wasn't making it to the listening position but was out front...

I quite like the looks of that guitar, and your review was excellent. If only it were short scale with a 45mm nut...

I like these reviews, in particular because you actually give your opinion on the guitar rather than just reproducing the maker’s press release and spec sheet. Makes a nice change!
I thought this sounded OK for a sub-£200 instrument.

I thought it sounded OK for a sub-£200 guitar as well, but it wasn't like 'wow for £200 this is really good' it was more 'yep, this is a solid £200 guitar'
