Hi everyone,
Here's something a bit different - guitars with reverb and chorus built in that you can hear unplugged!!
I think I'd sum these guitars up by saying they were good, servicable, mid-range acoustics - exactly what you'd expect from Yamaha - and the effects were quite fun to use and could inspire some new sounds - the sort-of 'rockabilly' playing example was something that just came out as I was cranking the reverb and I couldn't help myself!

Excellent evenhanded review Ben - these vids are developing a certain style that I really enjoy, and feel that I actually learn something about the guitars from them. You look perfectly comfortable now in front of the camera too.
Any idea how the effects thingy works on the acoustic sound? I believe they do pianos with a similar thing too.

Keith Thanks Keith - we're getting there with a style and I'm finding my feet a little and being able to 'be myself' a little more rather than falling into 'presenter' mode! As far as I know there's basically a little driver (I think Yamaha call it an actuator) that takes a feed from the pickup and then sends it back into the body of the guitar - kind of like a reverse pickup if that makes sense?

Thanks, Ben ...pic looks like vibrating the back then...? Does that mean there has to be a jack in the output socket for this to work, or is it passive?

Great review, Ben - like you, I couldn't see a great deal of difference (or point) in the 'chorus' mode. You might want to check out the humidity levels in your recording space, mind. At 1'20" the nut width was 42mm but by 8'21" it had swollen by a full mm

Heard one of these 'in the flesh' just over a year ago at an all acoustic get together. I did a double take as I wondered where the reverb and chorus was coming from.

Funnily enough I just did another session yesterday and we've changed the way we record the videos a little bit to try to catch out those little mistakes - we film from 10 in the morning to about midnight so it's inevitable that my brain gets bit fried by the end of the day and a few errors sneak in - I'll try to do better in the future!
