Rosette - cleaned up a bit. The inlay timber is Bocote taken from off cuts of the parlour build's back plate

Front and back plates: Fairly standard X-braces with the exception that the X and other braces in the belly area do not reach the sides of the soundboard they are tapered down and finish circa 20mm from the linings. The bridge plate is cherry. Back brace number 2 is of course intentionally slightly askew...

Centre reinforcement aka marriage strip: They're Sapele with rounded edges Hi Francis. Could I ask why you use multiple small pieces rather than one strip down the inside centre joint? Phil

Phil TaylorPhil, There's a school of thought that tries to avoid edges running in line with the grain lines in timber especially along thin plates. The edge of the marriage strip when seen as a single edge running along the back creates a weakness if the timbers dry out and shrink. So if the edge of the marriage strip is broken up there is no longer a single 'line' of weakness. Further if that line is made more random (as above) the central joint(s) is/are still bridged along it's length to give reinforcement but the weakness at the edge has been dissipated. Similarly the ends of bridge wings are more often shaped to avoid the bridge wing ends finishing parallel with the grain direction of the soundboard. As earthbalm says it gives you some artistic license without compromising the guitar.

Been working on a new tenoning and modifying a morticing jig before doing more on this one. The neck and body are now together. The neck will be a bolt-on bolt-off with a threaded square brass bar acting as the 'nut' and two bolts accessed from inside the soundhole. The mortice
