I need to shim the neck on my Mandocaster. Does anyone know of a UK source for neck shims? The only ones I can find are in the US. I'm assuming that I'll have to find and trim a guitar one as mandolin ones will be pretty rare.

Do you have a friend who does marquetry? Any old offcuts of reasonably dense wood will do.
((my ancient Aria electric bass still has some bits of split matchstick I put in as shims 30 or so years ago....)

Thanks - given that I had to look up marquetry I suspect the answer is no. But I found a sheet of veneer from some long forgotten project that I've just glued together to make about the correct thickness so I'll try that as a start. Having rechecked the action all I think I need is to raise the action a few mm as the adjusters are at their lowest level so a flat rather than angled shim should do the trick.
