I'm just back from seeing Tom Paley at Milngavie Folk Club in Glasgow. It was a really great night, and Tom was on top form managing to play banjo, guitar and two fiddles (not all at once!), while singing and entertaining everyone with jokes, anecdotes and Swedish history! He performed for around two hours in total, and despite struggling a little bit at times with his shoulder, was superb throughout playing mainly a selection of old time tunes and songs, peppered with Swedish 'polskas' played on the fiddle. His 1920s Martin guitar sounded very sweet indeed, and his banjo was nice and mellow. Great stuff!

Looks like you had a cracking seat as well, Martin!
Get there early, did you? LOL
One of my New Year resolutions was to try and get to more live stuff... failed abysmally thus far...

Actually Leo, I got there late! I was last in, but I was on my own so that meant I could take any spare seat, and there just happened to be one there beside the entrance, so I sat down and had a marvellous view As well as Jason (who posts on here sometimes), I also ran into my old banjo tutor Rob Mairs and his brother Ian who were also there to see Tom. It's a strange feeling seeing artists who have been playing since the 1940's Living history
