A Matched Pair - guitar and mandolin

I brought two new instruments along to HB9 both with Lawson's Cypress tops from "The Tree" that grew in my front garden and Spalted Beech backs and sides from the wood I found at my local Axminster store - probably from the Rain Forests of South Wales - and posted about here on the Forum.
The guitar is "Samhain Feá” and is Grand Concert sized with a 650mm scale length and 14 frets clear of the body. The neck is Spalted Beech from the same wood as the back and sides, the fingerboard and head-plates are Madagascan Rosewood, the bridge East Indian Rosewood with ebony unslotted bridge pins, Ovangkol binding, Gold EVO fretwire and Gotoh gold tuners with Ebony buttons:
The guitar has one of my "Porthole" soundports on the bass side lower bout with a "stopper" so that the guitar can be easily played with the soundport open or closed:
The mandolin is the second of my guitar bodied "Celtic Tigger" mandolins. The neck is American Black Walnut and Maple, the binding, head-plates, fingerboard and bridge are Macassar Ebony,and the tuners Gotoh mandolin with black buttons:
Both instruments have K&K pickups with gold strapnuts and ebony strap pins. I can confirm that Spalted Beech is a great tonewood and will post some recordings in the future.

, the "Samhain Feá" was the outstanding sounding guitar at Halifax to my ears The 'Tree' always makes great sounding instruments, but the beech seemed to me to add a very textured and pleasing tone to the guitar, still of course had Dave's sound, but just really spoke to me.
