I finally got around to buying the new Gretchen Peters album this weekend. As others have said this is superb and the songwriting up to the usual standards, but I can't help feeling this is a bit too samey — splitting hairs really as it is superb.
I bought the Rosanna Cash album at the same time after one of those personal recommendations that websites do. This is a wonderful album and very self autobiographical — Cash co-wrote all the songs. There's some new country sounding stuff here, some pure acoustic and a new co-write and duet with Elvis Costello and Rodney Crowell '8 Gods of Harlem' (if you are as obsessed about Trump as me you'll want to check this one out!). And there;'s one track which is a homage to her husband's Telecaster!
