Really effective to see the old Ralph and the new. I'm going to see him at Newark tomorrow night and I guess if he doesn't play it he won't get out alive. In the video Ralph says how many people cut their guitar playing teeth on this song. I can genuinely say that it was the first song I ever played in public (a horrendous number of years ago) and I still love it. It is timeless. Thanks so much for posting. My next job is to circulate it to the friends I'm going with tomorrow. FFJ

A couple more from me ... that I was reminded of as the came up on my iPod whilst driving this afternoon...
And I'm sorry about the subtitles in this video but I can't find a version without them (the video is, in my opinion, as beautiful as the song and notable for the appearance of what I guess is a Terz guitar...)

I adore that Sixpence song too Leo, and bought the CD it came from at the time - lovely. The little guitar in the video (but probably not on the recording - sounds a bit electric 12 string or heavily chorussed electric to my aged ears!) is a Tacoma Papoose - designed to be tuned a fourth up from normal guitar, A-A. I have one which I sometimes tune a fifth up, B-B, with lighter strings. I used it on my Eleanor Plunkett vid a while back, which you may remember Keith

He lent it to me (such is the generosity of folk on this 'ere forum) for the Kids4Hope project as I could get it on a plane as hand luggage! I confess that, in the other 'official' video the guitar is a 6 string leccy but there's an accordion too - which is acoustic (and that, your Honour, is the case for the defence)

Despite the 12 string being a little out of tune in places, I've always loved this one -

So many songs to choose from. Might have to dripfeed a few in over time. Given that he is touring what about the amazing "Me and My Woman" from Roy Harper's Stormcock. Should be listened to in the context of the whole album. In fact there is a point in that - the art of the great album with a track that hooks you in and then others that grow. I fear this has been lost for the iTunes generation. Might be worth a new thread if there is any interest?
PS - please buy/download the album if you like it so that the artist gets the royalties rather than just use this youtube link
