I agree with all that has been said but am I on my own thinking that the magazine is gradually going a bit sh#t#? As Andrew mentioned - Slash? I suppose they have to make money and it could be an age thing with me I think my mag subscription may be the last this year then pick and choose which one I want to buy. Good luck to this Forum and as they say 'When One Door Closes............................... Regards Phil

I was also thinking about that matter of age Phil.
When I compare the mag as it presents itself today and at the same time have a look who attended the forum, then I have to admit that the forum pack was definitely not the target group the mag is aiming for.
Perhaps we just didn't fit in anymore.

Hi Folks, Yes it's me Dennis. I'm a newbie here, but it's good to be alongside you folks, and a big thank you to Martin for redirecting me to this forum. I'd also like to convey my deepest thanks to both Martin and Keith for all the work that they put into the now defunct forum. I've been a regular subscriber to the magazine and still have every copy, I therefore regard myself as a loyal customer. But from the way that they closed the forum down without adequate notice does not in any way show loyalty on their part! That's history now, I just hope that all of us on this forum can still maintain our online friendship and continue to debate, offer advice and even joke with each other. Warm regards to you all. Dennis

Hi folks, My old log-in didn't work so I have had to reregister....
Ah well, it's a shame to see the old board go, but I, like others am grateful for having a great alternative.
I do check in often, but have little time to post at the moment, juggling work & family commitments as well as working towards another qualification for the new job give me limited time to spend playing, let alone posting! Regardless great to see most of the regularls have migrated across, and to see some new faces!

Hi Dennis, It's great to see you on here, and I'm glad you got over your initial registration problems. Yes, sad to see the old place go, but as long as we keep as many former members together here as we can, things will be fine

Well i have to say that, as someone who possibly was the 'target audience' (I'm 28), I've never really been that much of a fan of the mag anyway - it always seems to focus a little too much on 'up and coming' artists that all just happen to operate within 30 miles of the mag's headquarters and are, in no way whatsoever, friends of anyone at the mag (nudge nudge).
Sometimes there's some great stuff in there, but I always felt a little guilty using the forum when i wasn't really a fan of the mag.
So in some ways I'm pleased now it's gone independent!

Hi Everybody, What can I say. It appears the powers that be decided to finish the forum in favour of switching emphasis to social media and no, Idon't think my recent question in AL had any influence at all in this decision. I also had no part in this decision and as you know, I have put a lot of time and effort into linking the forum with the magazine over the past year or so. I guess with a change of ownership comes a change of direction and that is obviously apparent in the way the magazine has changed since Blaze acquired ownership. I have been there since the first issue under Oyster and to be honest, four or is it five Editors later and a new owner will always bring about some kind of organic movement. It's true to say that economics are not great in running anything at present unless you are at the very top of the tree and communication via social media costs less than maintaining a forum. I agree that some prior notice should have been given to give members a chance to come over to AS. Believe it or not, Guy was very much supportive of the forum so I guess that there may have been other issues taken into consideration when deciding to end the forum. I am not party to such decisions and I have to accept the changes or not. I have always thought that Acoustic Magazine is a great publication despite it's changes and will continue to support it until such a time as it no longer requires my services. I will also support your efforts to establish this forum as having met many of you personally, I value your friendship and desire to keep and grow such a forum. If there's anything within my sphere of influence you can think of I can do to help, please let me know. Tomorrow is a new day,
Paul Brett

Hey Bill, I'm the one who bought Monkey Grip. Do you want it back?
But seriously folks...
It's a relief to see so many from the old forum have found their way here. "Hi" again to them, and I'd just like to echo the remarks appreciative of Martin and Keith. They've salvaged so much from the wreckage, where I've seen other forum communities dissolve after closures. Ta gents.
