Apologies if this thread has already been done.
I am really interested in seeing what you other members aspire to play, because we are obviously all at a different level skills-wise, yet I'm sure we all have that one elusive piece that we wish we could master.
For me, it's 'Never Going Back Again' by Lindsey Buckingham, not only is it such a beautiful sound, it is way past my ability at the moment, yet it's songs like this which keep me going in my quest to become the player I want to be. I definitely WILL be able to play it one day, I am so determined to, but I won't attempt it quite yet until I have mastered the songs I can 'sort of' play at the moment.
So, which songs or pieces of music are out of your reach at the moment, but maybe one day you (like myself) are determined to be able to play ??
In case you don't know the song :

Wow, that's a great video by Martin Simpson (despite the sound and images being out by about a second on my machine - but that's something I've noticed happens here in the Soundboard). We do that song in one of my ensembles, but now I won't be happen with our version!

I would quite like to be able to play this like Ian plays it with a pick - perhaps after next July some point Phil ps some quacky sounding guitar by Lindsey and Martin or is it me who thinks that?

ps some quacky sounding guitar by Lindsey and Martin or is it me who thinks that? Yep, quack quack quack to me, too. My choice doesn't look difficult at all. There's a Tony McManus video which has been on here before which I wouldn't mind being able to emulate, too (One where he does a very long improv on several tunes glued together. Kym

We do that song in one of my ensembles, but now I won't be happen with our version! I saw him live not long after that performance on Jools Holland. He said he'd started the song way too fast and thought about stopping, but because he was being filmed he decided to keep going and see if he could hold it together.

Thank you so much everyone, I didn't think this would be so poplar. I have had a listen to all suggestions, and what an amazing wide range of sounds is present. Genuinely interested here in seeing what sort of music you all aspire to, I find it fascinating, so many thanks to all

If I was to have to choose just one track, I think it would be this one.
The original album version included the use of a slide, but I prefer the capo'd / fingered version played live here and that's the way I'd like to play it if I could ..... in my dreams! He pulls at the strings of the guitar and of the heart in one go. Coupled with 'Mother Love' as in this live performance it is even better.
