Newtone Heritage (low tension). They really are low tension so easier to play. Whether you like the sound or not is another question.

Hallo minorkey. I've been attempting to learn travis fingerstyle for the last 8 months or so and some of the fixes for the problems i've had should apply in your case.
Firstly, you're playing four beats to the bar. In the bar before the chord change count the beats but instead of counting '1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and' try counting '1 and 2 and 3 and 4' leaving a half beat gap which gives more time for the chord change. I found this next one awkward. When you're changing from E7 to B7 try to move your pinky close to the first string ready for the change rather than waiting to move it till you need to change. And you could try setting your pinky down first. The other fingers are easier to control.
I'd also definitely use a metronome if you have one. Set it slow. If you can't make the change cleanly at that speed set it slower again and again if need be. Get it solid regardless of the speed. Once it is solid you can gradually increase the speed.

So i've been doing the 'wet tea towel over the radiator' jobby for a while now. And it works. But the humidity is up and down as the towel dries and I don't fancy going through this performance for years. I've got one in a case at the moment with a Kyser soundhole humidifier but don't have enough cases for all four. Plus doing that's a pain as well.
So, can anyone recommend a normal room humidifier ? Is it as simple as just putting some water in and switching it on ? Are you able to set the humidity or just let the hygrometer measure it ? The room is 3/4 of a converted garage so is about 13' by 8'.
All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Great video Pete. I really hope you achieve all you want to. And you could hardly have chosen a better place to live while doing that.
All the best from Swansea.

Discovered them this year and one of my favourites. BTW he made the dreadnaught he plays There's a lovely taught sound to the strings. Perhaps a fairly heavy gauge ?

'You can sing this song when i'm gone'.
Imagine having written a line like that in a song like that. What an incredible legacy.
Keep safe people.

Thank you Andrew. I just listened to Grace using phones. Jane has a lovely voice and the guitar parts are very nicely played. When I switch strings I think i'll go back to the low tension Newtones. It's nice to try other makes but you soon know whether you like them or not.
Hallo Keith. It would have been nice to meet up but, as you say, these are strange times. You are right, the sound is clear with excellent sustain. In spite of my fumblings you can still hear the actual guitar. From all our experiences with Francis' guitars you are not going to be disappointed.
Cheers both.

I failed miserably when I tried to upload audio tracks before so apologies in advance if this doesn't work. It's been three months since I picked up the guitar and the sound has changed as you'd expect even in that short time. I find the strings a bit scratchy compared with the Newtones on the Fylde (Elixir Nanoweb 11-52's). I haven't tried to play anything specific. There are three short files - the first with a pick is just E/F#m/A strummed then the same chords playing single strings. The other two are fingerpicked. Just basic six string patterns to try to give an idea of the overall sound. It should be of interest to you Keith as Francis mentioned you had asked for yours to be built with a deeper body. I was the guy who collected the guitar today not that bald, old coot. A great welcome from Francis again as we've all come to expect. Also Sheila very welcoming albeit at a very sensible distance. And no sign of police road blocks anywhere i'm glad to say. I know I was being a naughty boy going to collect it but I waited a month and we were very careful about the social distancing/mask thing. Yes it is lovely. A very clear bell like sound albeit that will soften as the strings age. I did say to Francis that i'd try to post a sound clip. I told him that I watched Jonny playing 'Leaving Stoer' a few days ago and the sound was fantastic (and the playing of course ) but he appeared to have professional standard gear whereas i've got a little £80 Tascam digi recorder. So you'll hear the notes but whether you can appreciate the tone will be another matter. We'll see. Another big thank you to Francis for doing such a lovely job. John
