Nice collection you've got there. Like the look of the new arrival and he looks as if he likes his new home.

Hi Perky
Good luck with your search. I'm in the Faith camp. I have a Faith high gloss Venus which has a smaller body than a dreadnought and the neck is very comfy which is great for me as I have small fingers. Tone is brilliant you won't be disappointed. The only adjustment I did was to lower the action. It's like playing an electric guitar.

Frailers, very good shop. Went there about 5 months ago, large selection of new and used guitars.

Well have to say after a few days the strings sound nicer on the ear. Think I might be coming round to them.

23 days to go. Don't know how you've managed to last this long. Bet you've had a sneaky go. Good luck with the wait.

My Faith High Gloss Venus came with D'Addario XL's fitted and it sounded beautiful. Had the strings for nearly 5 months so decided to change them. I put Elixir Nanowebs on and they've change the sound completely. Made it sound a lot brighter. Not sure I like the way they've changed the sound. I mainly use a plectrum but do a bit of fingerpicking. Will leave them on for a week or two. Was nearly tempted to get the old ones out the bin and put them back on as I preferred the sound of the old D'Addario's even though they were 5 months old. Will probably go back to the D'Addario's. Each to their own.

Volante
I had a similar experience but with a Farida d62 and the Faith High Gloss Venus. I was blown away with the Farida especially as I had tried Gibsons and Martins, but I opted for the Faith HGV. I couldn't put it down. In the end it is up to you. I have no regrets for choosing the Faith especially as I had the budget for a guitar costing twice as much.

Never tried a Maton but if you go on Justinguitar website on most of his acoustic tutorials he uses a Maton. He makes them sound good. But there again he'd probably make most things sound good.

As others have said just keep on going. I've messed up plenty of times. Examples such as getting to the third verse of a song and can't remember the first line so sing the first verse again, or singing the chorus at the wrong time. I have even made up words when I couldn't remember the original. The important thing to remember is try not to stop, just keep getting back on the horse so to speak.

Hi Andyfr
I have just recently purchased a Faith High Gloss Venus. Could not put it down after picking it up. Didn't try the naked mahogany so can't compare between them. All I will say is you won't be disappointed with the Venus. I prefered the Faith Venus to the Gibsons, Martins and Taylors I tried. I have no regrets and have already started gigging with it.

Great thread Dawkins. Very interesting to hear other people's stories regarding singing. Never had any singing lessons myself but reading this thread I'm now considering it. My wife has moaned at me for years about my singing. When I get asked to bring my guitar and sing at parties you want to see her face when I get complimented on my singing. It's a picture. Luckily its never bothered me about getting up and singing. The biggest problem I have is remembering the words of songs.
Scorpidog if my wife ever left me I definately wouldn't get married again if she didn't like my singing, lol.
Good luck with the singing sounds as if your really enjoying it.

I have a Takamine G series electro acoustic which I've had for nearly 10 years now. Sounds good acoustically and when plugged in. Used regulary in jam nights and open mic nights never had any trouble with it. Have also recently bought a Faith Venus High Gloss, this sounds really good acoustically and when plugged in. I'm now looking to start gigging and don't have any worries about using either guitar.

Surely it is down to how you treat your guitar whilst gigging and how durable your guitar case is. Most people will be responsible for packing / unpacking their own gear, so unless you literally throw your guitar around even the cheap ones should be ok. I've never known a guitar to fall to pieces from just being played. I've even dropped one on stage and it stayed in tune. Some bounce quite well. You only have to look at Willie Nelsons guitar. Also Seasick Steve plays an acoustic that's reported to be very old. Most guitars will outlive their owners.
