I do the same as Snakestretcher. No particular reason it's just the wat I do it. Never had a problem with staying in tune, apart from when I play lol

If you live anywhere near the Northwest have a look at Frailers in Runcorn. Loads of second hand American made guitars within your budget.

Congratulations on your new Lowden. Don't worry about putting a ding in it. I cried for nearly a week when I dinged my guitar, but time is a great healer. I recently saw an interview with Tommy Emmanuel and one of the first things he does with a new guitar is to sand part of the top down. Remember they are musical instruments not ornaments.

For less than £800 you can get a Faith High Gloss Venus, an all solid wood electro acoustic with a cutaway. Sounds good plugged in and unplugged. I love it. The only problem is, my son loves it to. Great for finger picking and playing with a plectrum. Good luck with your search.

Drinking and playing guitar?? I went to a party once and was asked to bring my guitar. By the time everyone was ready for a singalong I was well oiled. Problem was I was too oiled and couldn't remember how to hold a guitar never mind try and play it. My wife has never let me forget about it especially as when I tried to stand up with guitar I fell backwards and landed on the table where the buffet was. She was not impressed. Luckily most of the guests laughed and I didn't damage my guitar.

Forgot to mention that although my guitar has never bought me a pint, I have had plenty of pints bought for me because of my guitar, does that count.

If I'm going to a jam night or a folk acoustic night I take the Faith Venus. When I do an open mic night I take my Takamine G series just in case somebody else want to have ago.

Went once about 6 months ago and spent a couple of very enjoyable hours in there. A guy has posted a video on YouTube of Frailers, him and his mate do little tour of the shop, showing the guitars on display. I think the guy has his own deltabluestips website, which very good.

Thanks guys. Yes what a lovely pair. Yes I dropped very lucky. Basically I bought it blind, put my faith in Faith so to speak. Viking Blues well worth a try, you won't be disappointed.

It could be argued that any guitar is overrated. If you like the sound of it and you can afford buy it. I went into a shop recently and they had a second hand Gibson parlor guitar. It looked battered and they wanted £1500 for it. I wouldn't have given £100 for it but what do I know. Someone bought because its not there now.
