Lowdens are fantastic. I think you should at least test drive a few with serious intent. You owe it to yourself

Sell them privately dude . Shops give a pitiful return on second hand trade ins . But as Martin suggests I'd play a few.in the range your aiming for to see if you like them first . I must admit to have hankered over one for many years since hearing Martyn Josephs story about how he found his . And each one I've tried has been brilliant , but that's a big step .

List them on gumtree I shifted a few guitars in 2014 to pay for my Big Hollow. Shops will want to make a margin on your stuff.

A cute GAS attack - nothing cute about it! Guitar forums in general maybe need a warning - "contents may damage your wealth" or something similar. Lowdens are most certainly worth a try, but I would say that I guess. I've tried and few and they all had something special to the sound, even if most of them were too big for me. I suffer from ducks disease and I think my arms are a bit on the short side too, so I can't wrap them round acoustic guitars the way most players can. Mark

Thanks for the advice folks. I'm managing to suppress the worst symptoms by constantly checking my bank balance (no, there's no more in it than there was half an hour ago) and playing my Breedlove very gently four times a day after meals. We're going up to Exeter in a few short weeks and I know that if I walk into the Lowden dealers, I'll already have passed the point of no return. Sorry to hear about those arms vikingblues but better than having them scraping on the floor. Try the Hokey Cokey (knees bend, arms stretch ra ra ra)

Sounds like you need a Lowden. If you prick us, do we not bleed?

If you prick us, do we not bleed? Maybe, but I've heard that Lowdens make pretty good plasters.

Good luck with scratching that itch breedlover. Resistance is probably futile.
This reminds me that had had awful gas for the wee lowden (well that sounds like the first line of a schoolboy joke) when they first came out. But I've heard very little about them. Has anyone had a chance to play one?
Cheers, marcus

Mind you, you'd still be getting a factory guitar. Yes, but one that'll knock the socks off many single luthier's efforts. :bee:
