I enjoyed reading all your comments, thank you. Here she is. Even though she had lost her virginity when I bought her, i.e. she came with a built-in ding, albeit a very tiny one, I'm so nervous about inflicting another that I'm almost afraid to take her out of her case. My Breedlove falls just short of being armour-plated and even though she's been gigged many times she still doesn't have a blemish on her soundboard as she wears enough lacquer to coat a small yacht. By comparison the Lowden is virtually naked and I just know that her cedar top is so vulnerable, especially when in the hands of Mr Clumsy here. Any advice on how to deal with the inevitable psychological trauma which awaits me will be most welcome.

Looks like the same sort of excellent workmanship that I enjoy seeing every day on my S32. I was quite pleased recently how calmly I reacted to hearing my Lowden toppling sideways as I walked into a room due to a misjudgement my another family member. I think it's because the sound is what really makes the guitar so very, very special for me. Mark

Congratulations on your new Lowden. Don't worry about putting a ding in it. I cried for nearly a week when I dinged my guitar, but time is a great healer. I recently saw an interview with Tommy Emmanuel and one of the first things he does with a new guitar is to sand part of the top down. Remember they are musical instruments not ornaments.

to the lowden club. Very many congratulations Andy on having an understanding and encouraging wife and a Lowden S. It's a magical combination for sure and one to be treasured! And isn't it wonderful not to have to go through the agonies of waiting for one to be built? Plus a discount too! I recall trying the O size and it needed just a bit more attack from the player to make it sing than my natural style allowed. I guess an O was the larger model you tried. I had been expecting to go the 25 route myself when I started searching for an S - I do generally like Cedar tops most, but ended up with a 35 and I don't usually like spruce tops - Lowden magic at work there. Whatever the top though the S series are wonderful guitars and their voices are superb - you've summed it up so well with highlighting purity of tone and sustain. I wish you many very happy years of playing! Mark Special thanks to a fellow S man Mark! It was the O size I tried, but I couldn't make it ring like the S25. Like you, I'm a light player and the S25 seems to respond perfectly. I love the small size. It's so......cute!

I was meaning to mention....one thing I noticed about this guitar was the smell. Now when I was a boy, my father was a woodwork teacher and I would sometimes go over to his classroom after school or weekends and watch him work or clear up. The lovely woody smell of my Lowden took me INSTANTLY right back there. It's so pungent that it lingers in the room long after the guitar has gone back in its case.
What a bonus!

A nice bonus indeed - treasure the moments - mine had been hanging on the wall waiting for a sale for rather a while so I missed out on that. Mark

I to have been looking at Lowdens as well as other makes. I tried a few at Guitar Guitar in Brum, but as Slash was practising in one of the sound proof booths (they are about as sound proof as a paper bag) I could have been playing a banjo for all I could hear. So I decided to journey to Nottingham to Dave Mann music, what a lovely shop and very nice people. I tried several Lowdens they all sounded very different everyone of them played well and were fantastic quality, but I decided because I have made lots of errors in the past with guitars, I am going to try lots of different makes before I decide. I may very well decide on a Lowden and if I do I will definatly buy from Dave Mann guitars they were so nice I felt guilty about not buying anything. Good luck with your search Breedlover I would definatly try a few before you buy they all sound and feel very different.
best Wishes Lomas

There are just so many excellent guitars to choose from these days that you more you look at the wiser choice you'll make. As for me, my search is over (read my last couple of posts). I never did have much patience but I've no regrets.

Feel a bit of an idiot now Breedlover or is that Lowdenlover. I did not read all the threads so there am I telling you to try them out and you have all ready gone and done the deal. I am glad you have got what you want, I am sure you will both be very happy.
Best wishes Lomas

No Lomas, my name is bound to lead to confusion. I'll look into changing it, although I feel a little guilty for rejecting the Breedlove, which is still a super guitar and which I still love. It's just that I have two mistresses now (and a bit on the side with the old Guild) Good luck with your quest and let us know how it goes.

No Lomas, my name is bound to lead to confusion. You're not the only one!
VikingBlues might not be an ideal name for me to be using. The Viking from a Hagstrom Viking Deluxe and Blues due to concentrating on blues playing.
Rather less than appropriate given the current musical genres I play on an acoustic.
