What a beautiful thing it is and they don't hang around even at that price point!! Anyone on here buy it? Phil You got me Phil.... I currently have it preserved in a specially made vacuum sealed humidor, in a few years time, once all sets of the tree have been dispensed with and the guitar has sufficiently risen in value I plan to sell it to fund my retirement set up a guitar academy for disadvantaged children. I'll call it 'The Moon Spruce Academy'. I can tell you it smelt divine too

His older one is by Joe Foley but not his new one. He did say but it has slipped my mind.

Very similar Nigel, sounds great, I like 'S' for simple. There's a few recent photos on Daoiri's Facebook page of his... Lozenge shaped sound hole and tailpiece, Irish maker I think.

Interesting video, thanks. I went to see Daoiri Farrell this evening, he was playing two bouzoukis, his newer one looked more like a guitar, the other was his old flat back type. Great player and singer, he's off to London next, worth seeing

I went to my first Show of Hands gig a few years ago, Steve Knightley talked about David Oddy and the intruments made by David that both he and Phil Beer play and he told a story about a fan who had asked David Oddy to make him a guitar similar to the main one Steve plays. Apparently after having owned the guitar for a little while the guy called David Oddy a little irate to complain that when he played his new guitar it didn't sound the same way as it does when Steve Knightley plays his guitar... David Oddy was a tell-it-like-it-is kind of guitar maker and told his customer fairly bluntly that it was most likely because he wasn't Steve Knightley and he didn't have decades of experience playing as a professional musician.
I personally think you can play pretty much anything on pretty much anything as long as it is a decent instrument and you have the capability!

Thanks for presenting a "new" (to me) artist. Lovely playing! Is the custom Falstaff a koa back and sides? I think it's the Martin that has koa Dobro.

“Topping the bill” Oh dear I suddenly feel the need of brown trousers and bicycle clips. However it’s always worth making the effort to see and hear lavaman perform. It's the sign of a true pro that you have the foresight to mitigate any butterflies Ged, I'd probably wear white shorts and have to do a Gary Lineker mid set. Sounds like it will be a top evening, enjoy!

Very nice Dave!
I have mine out (steady) most of the time with one of my steel string guitars, currently Big Hal, I like going between the two. I can testify to the oomph, she had her first outing last Friday, aside from our recent weekend away in Halifax, and she worked well in a Victorian church hall setting, plenty of volume and tone (oomph).

We chatted about this whilst having a curry on Saturday night (I also had a curry on Friday night which together with the amount of whiskey consumed may explain my stomach cramps following curry number 2!). I like the hotel and staff... Quite a funny moment when a side door to the function room opened and a young member of staff poked his head out because he couldn't breathe in the side room he was in due to the smell for some reason. The continuously running hand dryer in the ladies loos was a little annoying but now that Paul knows how to remove the fuse that is that sorted. I had an eggy pint but switched to bottled beer. Sorted. My bedroom windows wouldn't shut but the whiskey took care of that on Friday and on Saturday I drifted off listening to the revellers. Shame the pie lady at the bells has not returned from furlough but hopefully she will have by next year. I didn't know what furlough meant until March 2020. My bed was very comfy and clean, I was one of the lucky ones who had hot water... Not sure why I still smelt! It might be worth having a contingency plan for worst case scenarios but otherwise the imperial is my kind of hotel

There are a few bends on that tune that would put Trent Alexander-Arnold to shame. Lovely all round, congrats and enjoy welcoming her (or him) into your hareem
