This Falcate build will be similar to the previous Lacewood build ( acousticsoundboard.co.uk/thread/7795/lacewood-build ) with a few bespoke changes. From the front the notable difference is the inclusion of a small arm bevel, the purfling will follow the line of the arm bevel. The rosette is similar to the J45 with lacewood as the inlay timbers. - A few of the Photoshop mock-up images follow: The back and sides will have rosewood lines running around forming shaped panels. The headstock has changed too. Here straighter lines have been requested. The rosewood line detail again traces round just inside the outer profile. The tuners will be Gotoh 510Z's with a 'Cosmo' finish (smoky grey). The neck will be in mahogany with a rear profile to match a Taylor guitar, fretboard in EIR. Internally the deeper linings will be laminated lime (3 layers), Falcate bracing will be sitka spruce in three layers for the curved braces. Straight braces will be solid sitka. Back bracing will be 'live' the same as the previous lacewood. This is a scanned image of the headstock facing. I've done this 'off' the headstock just in case of a mishap getting the rosewood lines in place All for now TBC...

A Milsom build thread is a fantastic Christmas present. Looking forward to the unwrapping. :xmas02:

Looks brilliant. There's a lucky person out there. Are there any clues to who it is from these pics?

Looks lovely, although I would ask for the Milson logo to be in a rosewood colour.

Starting to work on the front and back plates. They've been glued together and I've just cut them roughly to shape ready to start taking them down to near the final thickness. These are the inside faces

Sides have now been bent and are in the mould now for a couple of days to dry out. Plenty more to do...

That's looking very nice Francis, I built a London Plane/WRC OO-13 some years ago (I believe it's pictured in my 'Meet the Maker'), and really liked the combination both aesthetically and tonally. London plane seems to tap like cardboard, but really seems to let the top do its job. Will we see this at Halifax, or will it be out before then?

The new owner hopes it will be out 'well' before Halifax. And he/she also hopes that it will also be at Halifax as well! Not so sure about the cardboard bit ... FFJ

Colin Out well before Halifax - although it may still make an appearance... It does have that sort of thud but as you say it really does help the top wood.
