colins the last thing g you have to worry about is whether somebody will play Stairway. I suspect Smoke on the Water will also be there! That's what I was afraid of andyhowell. Maybe making an electric for Halifax wasn't the best Idea I've ever had!

Of course, I will tune it straight to DADGAD and start playing the blues. Mind you, didn't Jimmy Page use DADGAD a lot?
It looks a fab guitar though.

Well a package arrived today with lots of goodies for the HB10 CS336, now all I have to do is work out how to put them together! Anyone got a soldering iron? Colin

Turn it up to 11!! robmc I need to find someone with a Volvo Estate, sure to get it in that. In my favourite TV programme 'Shaun the Sheep' Shaun's amp for his Stratocaster has the volume control going up to 11!
A bit more routing done today. Now that I have the pickups I checked the measurements and using a template routed the cavities for the two PAF humbuckers. I then changed templates and routed the socket for the set in neck, the neck angle was set at 3.5deg and the pocket routed.
I also cut the top roughly to shape and again using a template cut out the 'f'-holes by drilling and filing. I also roughed out the pickup apertures, these will be cleaned up when the top is glued to the body. Lastly I drilled the holes to mount the pots and switch.

It's going to be a bit of a sexy beast Colin! I have the Volvo estate but alas no stack... That's exactly what I had in mind Onechordtrick, ear defender territory.

Drizzly, dull grey day, so an indoor job is needed, I know I'll get out of my comfort zone and get all high tec. Time to solder up the electrics! The meter says it all works, but..... Obviously pickups and bridge ground will have to be done when it's all in the body. Colin

An important requirement for any guitar is a neck, so I thought I'd better make one. This is a Honduran Mahogany neck, and like all Gibson electrics features a scarfed head at 15-17deg angle (varies a bit according to which one you measure), the scarfed neck is fitted with its truss rod and carbon rods. The neck template is screwed to the blank and routed to profile. The head is shaped and the headplate glued in place. The tuner holes drilled and the rear headplate shaped and glued on and the neck shaft shaped to near final dimensions. I then realised that I had forgotten to cut the access to the truss rod, so this was done and so in for a cup of tea. (Yorkshire Gold of course) Next will be joining the neck to the body. Colin

Colin, what string gauge do you have in mind for this one?

Colin, what string gauge do you have in mind for this one? The standard for these is 10-48s. This will have 10-48 GHS David Gilmore signatures. Colin
