Ive built an acoustic from materials found in my garage. The main aim was to build something from recycled materials that would have ended up on the fire. Mainly off cuts of engineered oak flooring. Can anyone give me some clues how to upload the pics🙄?

How interesting! I'd love to see pictures. My first two or three instruments were mainly built by scrap wood found in an old barn. There's a guide on the forum for how to upload pictures here. But the short version is - you must upload your images to an external host. I personally use Postimage.org. Then you have to link your images using the "Insert Image"-button and paste the URL for your image.

Here is the photostream on Flickr (wife's account) www.flickr.com/gp/186319939@N02/Lae748Let me know if the link works - please be kind this was my first every guitar build! As you can see, I used 1.5mm aluminium offcut for the body profile. The wood used was engineered oak flooring and marine ply routed down to 2mm. The aluminium gives it a unique sound. I also fitted a piezo pickup just in case it sounded terrible acoustically!

Great to see some original design and recycling in action. Thanks for the pics. Are you pleased with the sound?

Thanks.Yes, Pleased with the sound considering this was all new to me. It does have a metallic resonating sound to it which is quite nice.

Great posts. I think ocarolan may have been hinting at some sound files. If not, may I be so bold as to request a listen? Cheers, Dale

That was a fascinating build. And daring for being a first build. It would be daring even for an experienced luthier. Yes, we’d love to hear a sound sample!

Lars your right. I was half way through and read that an acoustic is the last thing you should attempt. I can see why. Hats off to you guys. Main thing is I loved the project. Very rewarding.
