Mmmm Practice piece on a Celtic Knot inlay for the headstock - learnt a great deal doing this... Background timber is Bocote with maple veneer inlay. 0.6mm slots cut on CNC. Superglue on fingers - awkward...

More on the parlour today: Neck joint cut - now needs the fit fine tuning. Headstock shaped, logo MoP inlay inserted, Celtic knot slots cut - waiting for some holly veneer. Quick photo at end of play...

My hands are not very big so I was hoping the neck/fingerboard would have been a little smaller . Re the Celtic knot. We did a spec sheet early on and I included a Celtic knot just as a thought. A possibility. I thought it may be nice but I wasn't really sure. Then Francis made a couple of suggestions. And after a bit of a discussion he then said what about a knot just below the Milsom logo. I thought it looked lovely. Getting excited now . John

Fingerboard looks right. For a lute You’d better get working on those finger stretches. Seriously though it looks lovely. I’m very jealous

The Celtic Knot has now been inlaid, took ages this morning. Fretboard slotted, and the bridge to basic shape.

The Celtic Knot has now been inlaid, took ages this morning. I wouldn't be able to accomplish it in a lifetime! The whole thing looks fantastic, Francis. Your work is so very neat. and the end result is bound to be brilliant.

Hi All, Bit further on, the damp weather and a domestic injury had knocked quite a few days out of building. But yesterday and today have seen some sunshine and the RH in the workshop back down into the lower 50's so happy boy now. Hope you like

Bank hols over with - back to the workshop: Still need to do an initial level off on the frets and round the sharp ends off. Lots of little bits as well. Getting there.
