On the 22nd of last month my sister ordered 5 sets of Wyres Pierre Bensusan strings to be sent straight to robbiej I called them on Tuesday to give them a piece of my mind as they STILL hadn't arrived . The guy apologised and told me they would be dispatched imediatley and Rob would get them yesterday . I PMd Rob to tell him this and there still not here . I've actually commented on they're FB page hoping this will shock them into action regards this issue but I will never order from them again . Likewise I ordered 3 sets of Da'Darrio strings a Kyser capo and some picks on Monday evening and still by this morning hadn't received an email to say they had been dispatched . When I called the guy hadn't a clue and spike to someone else who again apologised and said they would be posted today and I should get them tomorrow but I'm sorry these folk take your money quickly enough they really need to buck their ideas up . I wanted to post this to make members aware of this . From now on I will drive to Edinburgh or Glasgow and get them from a shop . They may be dearer but at least I'll get them and not a load of lies .

Thanks for the warning. Will definitely be avoiding them.
It's a shame because, since that Panorama programme about the treatment of Amazon employees, a lot of people will be wanting to buy from places like this. It could have been an opportunity for them, but they seem to have blown it.

Sorry for all the trouble you've had Derek- unfortunately they have still not arrived. I usually find strings direct to be quite prompt. All I can think is that if they did indeed go out at the beginning of this week they have got held up in the christmas post.

You can buy direct from the website of P.B. .... Ebay and ...erm... Amazon (if you want somebody running around with a countdowny / beepy thing) at around £15.00 per set with free delivery. Pierre Ben & Susan's site: Pierre Bensusan Strings

Strings Direct are usually very prompt, and usually initiate apols by email or even phone if any delays are expected. My most recent order (a couple of weeks ago) took 5 days to arrive instead of the more usual 1 or 2.
Your experience was certainly not good Derek, and I can well understand your reaction, but not having been directly affected by it myself I'm happy to give them the benefit of the doubt...for now...

I ordered two sets of mandolin strings and two sets of mandocello strings [ made up of individually chosen strings] online from Stringbusters on Monday...they arrived yesterday [Wednesday]....I've always had really good service from both Strings Direct and Stringbusters... Sorry to hear that your experience hasn't been the same..

Sounds like an awful experience but I have generally had a decent experience with them and got a set of wyre bensusans, some classical strings and a few odd heavy gauge strings for open C tuning next day just last week. My Wyre bensusans are unopened and if you need some asap and cant get them elsewhere send me a DM with your address and I will send mine on as I dont immediately need them and have a decent stock of Elixirs.
Kyser capo, hmmmm. I find the spring force or something too powerful for my acoustics - seems to drag them out of tune. Tend to stick to Shubb but keep meaning to get a G7. Any other views?

Hi,I use a G7 capo I think it's the Newport or Nashville version which is much lighter than the standard G7.hope this helps.cheers Dave.

I've bought from Strings Direct for many years; I once had a delivery which didn't arrive after about 4 days; contacted them and they immediately sent replacements. The original ones arrived about 3 weeks later and had obviously been lost by Royal Mail. No other problems. But no doubt every company has something that goes wrong. Having said that I don't use them for strings any more as they've added a postage charge which used to be free. I have recently used, via Amazon the following company and so far so good.

The thing is its bad enough taking 2 weeks but to tell me they would definitely be out next day and for them still not to arrive isn't good enough I will wait and see if string busters fulfill their promise of getting mine tomorrow . I posted the mini amp for the giveaway to Leo 1st class on the Friday afternoon at about 2.30 pm and he got it next day so if I can do it is imagine a big company dealing in thousands of pounds a day would manage . Rob its been no trouble for me its the fact that I don't like letting folk down , you were good enough to post the looper pedal before payment and I didn't want you waiting too long . Sorry again and I will be calling them tomorrow afternoon if still no show .

I feel very guilty about all of this. I had better explain that Sigmadel bought my TC Electronics ditto from me on behalf of his sister, and rather than farting about with paypal I just asked if payment could be made in strings. This is the first time I have seen any issues with strings direct, though I do remember that over the summer I received an email to say they were restructuring (concentrating on strings and accessories and not all the guitars and amps they used to stock). Maybe its teething problems?
Anyway, Derek please don't worry. Like I said, I cannot restring my guitar until after christmas anyway as I have a dodgy tuner on my Brook that will need taking down and replaced.
ON the subject of capos, I a now sticking with G7th stuff- I find the performance models quite sufficient, and they look nice as well. Has anyone tried the nashville model? I was thinking of getting one for my bouzouki, as I need a trigger one to be able to do lightening fast capo changes.

I agree with you about Kysers... I've used both G7's and Shubb's in the past but have ended up using Planet Waves NS's since they first became available...light and easy to adjust to get just the right tension to prevent buzzes and still keep the instrument pretty much in tune. www.daddario.com/pwProductDetail.Page?ActiveID=4115&productid=503&productname=NS_Capo_BlackEdit...gone OT again [must be my age]..sorry!

Really surprised about StringsDirect.
Everytime I've bought things from them I've received the strings within a few days.
Hope the situation with the Wyres is sorted out soon Derek.

To be honest I've never had issues before with either that's what's pretty frusting . I'll call strings direct tomorrow if still no show and I'll keep everyone posted regards busters , just to add string busters were a good bit cheaper than strings direct but they don't sell newtones or at least I never saw them .
