I was on Andertons last night and came across a Fender dred , solid mahogany and solid spruce top, fishman pickup/ preamp bone nut and saddle and shaller tuners . Rosewood headstock veneer too and it actually looks very nice . I think it was the cd360dce or something like that , anyone else seen this or have any experience of Fender acoustics ? Its just it seems like an excellent deal considering its all solid and the fishman electrics . 5 stars too .

Strewth. That's cheap looking at the spec. Even a bone nut and saddle.

That's what I was thinking . I wonder if there's a mistake somewhere and it is indeed a laminated back and sides .

Can't find anything about that model. Fender don't have a good rep for acoustic but they do produce some gems, every now and then. i like some of their acoustics and wouldn't mind another one, sometime.

I don't know the actual guitar you mean (is it this one? www.andertons.co.uk/electro-acoustic-guitars/pid21968/cid679/fender-cd320asce-dreadnought-electro-acoustic-guitar.aspBut Fender acoustics are notoriously inconsistent. I have one from 1983 that was my picnic guitar until last year and is ok. At their best I believe they can represent very good value, but sometimes they need setting up. It seems the quality control process isn't as good as some. I've played probably 10 or 15 over the years. My opinion comes from that. Generally quality control is higher now than it used to be, so because my experience with Fender acoustics is spread over time, I may be treating them unfairly and am happy to stand corrected if anybody has more recent experience. But as with all batch built guitars, play as many as you can, find one you like and buy that one. The quality won't be consistent throughout the batch.

Read it again it says solid back . You can read it that way! But I wouldn't. "Solid" refers to the top. If it applied to the back, they would make that plain. Perhaps they leave out the comma that would remove the ambiguity for a purpose. I'm pretty sure it's a solid top, laminated back & sides. For what it's worth, that wouldn't automatically put me off a guitar. The "Fender" badge would. But at this price, it's got to be worth a look.

From your link, click on the "Spec" tab jbm - you'll see the top, the back and the sides are all listed and described separately..... Keith

I stand corrected. Are there other guitars built this way? Don't think I've seen one.
