Well here are the photos taken today From this, which Simon at Brook Guitars sent me in November 2012: To this: Here's the figured mahogany back: Headstock with Waverly tuners and snakewood buttons: The neck is lovely looking mahogany as well: 12th fret inlay, abalone rosette, snakewood bindings and rosewood purfling : Cutaway showing snakewood bindings: Heelcap - sorry about the dust: And here are the Torridge and Custom Lyn side by side: Suffice to say I am very pleased with this guitar and I know this sounds corny but I was stunned by it's beauty and I sure Rob Jessop will verify this since he was there when I first looked at it. I asked Rob to play it first and he played his composition 'Prelude'. It sounded amazing and very loud for a small guitar I tried to play it but was all fingers and thumbs Well, just going to get used to it now and hopefully record something next week Regards Phil

I tried some guitars with Rob not too long ago, and even if I thought I did a reasonable playing the Brooks in contrast to Rob I was all fingers and thumbs! Really beautiful guitar Phil. The mahogany back and sides are stunning. Looking forward to hearing/seeing soundfiles or videos.

Hi Phil,
I think you are doing yourself a disservice! You certainly weren't fingers and thumbs, and those new compositions of yours are simply wonderful. Can't wait to hear the recordings on this fantastic new Lyn.

Lovely looking guitar Phil... you made some excellent choices. That mahogany really is something else. Do the body sizes feel any different and do you feel the 12 vs 14 fret join affects playability? All the best, marcus

Great photos Phil, I love to see a pyramid bridge and slotted headstock on a parlour-sized guitar and Brook make an excellent job of both!

Thanks all - it really is a great guitar IMO and I keep looking at both my Brooks on their stands when I should be playing The whole experience of making the decision and sorting out the detail was really good. Going to the lovely Easterbrook workshop to pick it up, meeting Robbie there and watching him play it first was the 'icing on the cake' - a very memorable experience indeed Regards Phil

But more than anything it was wonderful to hear you play in the flesh. The tone that comes across so wonderfully on your videos is even more exceptional in the flesh. It was a delight to meet you and Lynne, and I certainly hope it wont be the last time we meet. Rob

Lovely looking guitar Phil... you made some excellent choices. That mahogany really is something else. Do the body sizes feel any different and do you feel the 12 vs 14 fret join affects playability? All the best, marcus Regarding the 12 vs 14 fret join I would say the Lyn is more 'playable' than the 14 fret Torridge because the nut on the Lyn is roughly 35mm closer to me which makes playing barre chords easier (although still a struggle) lower on the neck with my dodgy wrist ( see link - suave kapandji) The cutaway gives access to the upper frets so there is no problem there and the Lyn body depth is approx. 5mm less so hardly noticeable. Comfort/playability for my left wrist was foremost in my thoughts when thinking about this guitar even down to the angle of the tuner buttons i.e. slot-head, which feel better for me. Cheers Phil
