At the moment I've just been trying out the G7th capos on the 3 acoustics and the Newport was easily the best for me but none of the normal ones liked the 12 string as the bars are on the short side . Swapping over from the Sigma to the Freshman again put me in a query yet again as to whether or not to sell it as really when I'm going for a guitar its the freshman now and yes the Sigmas great but she's not getting the attention she deserves so yes maybe the Sigma . On the other capo thing I did like the Newport one but actually prefer my Kyser and it covers the 12 string too and at around £15 its much cheaper .

My new interest in acoustic instruments in the last 5 months has put paid to downsizing in a big way, and I'm not sure if I've permanently given up on the electrics yet and I've kept them, so it's getting crowded! Mark My advice is don't get rid of them even if you think you've given up on them. Keep a favourite at least. Long ago I gave up my job as a pro musician and sold my workhorse Telecaster and most of my other instruments in a moment that was was like slamming the door on the person I'd been. When I returned to playing after the hiatus I stayed acoustic for the first few years and thought I was happy that way. Then I met up with one of my old bandmates again, he gave me access to his Hohner and Washburn electrics - and I actually got a bit emotional, so overwhelming was the sense of coming home. I suddenly remembered how different playing an electric actually is to playing acoustic, and just what I could do on one. Now the Washburn is on what seems to be a sort of permanent loan to me - but I still remember the feel and the particular sound of that trail worn old Telecaster, and I'd love to have it back. Thank you - that sounds like sensible advice. I have a pretty strong attachment to those instruments which have seen me through some wonderful musical discoveries. Might be I can find time for both acoustic and electric in my life to come at some point .... maybe if the hours in a day is increased to 48? I've only so far sold one guitar that I've regretted amongst the many I have sold, and I'd rather that remained the only one. I sold a Vintage VSA590 (semi acoustic with P90s) last year to help fund a Gibson SG standard with P90s. I thought it would be a good move to a higher quality of instrument but not only did I regret selling the Vintage I even more regretted buying the Gibson which turned out, for me, to be much the inferior of the two, and with PCBs inside the control panel that meant that tweaking the electrics to improve the sound would mean ripping everything out (and voiding the warranty). I'd had a Gibson SG Standard, bought second hand several years before (with proper traditional wiring) and that sounded great - had to sell that one to help fund unexpected vet fees - I didn't regret that sale as the dog in question meant way more to me than any guitar ever could - not that there was a happy ending to that story. I'd thought the new SG would have the same sort of qualities but was sadly mistaken - I did not regret selling it on in the least, even at a pretty whopping loss.

I just took delivery of the Faith Mercury FMHG im so taken by this guitar its amazing. The all solid spruce top and solid rosewood combo is amazing. Definitely worth the investment. I have a Sigma TM12 travel and Sigma 000r-28v Small travel short scale small body was a joy to play with not so good tone. The 000 was great tone but not so comfortable to play. So after a long search I found the best of both worlds in the Faith small body small scale comfy to play. The tone is to die for way better than even the much bigger 000. So the size wise she sits in the middle with killer tone.
I had the 000r-28v was replaced under warrenty recently so that and its little brother will be sold.

Following on from the 'next purchase' thread, is anyone considering downsizing their instrument collection anytime soon? I've thought numerous times recently that I just don't play the stuff I've got, and I should really make room and sell some of it off. Up for consideration are: - Bass guitar & amp
- Classical guitar
- a banjo
- Accordion
I've regretted selling some stuff in the past (The Single Malt Fylde mandolin is a particular regret), but I need more space and just don't play that much these days. Not your Taran then?

I sold the Mk1 to a fellow forum member a while back, so I just have the one now.

You'll have to help me out, can't find your build thread. Was it on here or Acoustic Life? Did you go for anything way off the standard spec? What woods did you go for and what's the nut width?
