Even though I no longer play electric guitar, haven't really done so in over 20 years, and sold my electric guitar and peripherals over five years ago, for some reason I find myself drawn to this...  Is this the equivalent of the stereotypical red sports car typically bought by the 'aging' gentleman?  Don't even know when, where or with whom I'd play it, but damn it's secksy   |

I can't remember as far back as mid-life crisis!  Though I still feel the need to keep 4 electrics cluttering up the place - and if you're as old as you feel then that's now verging on late-life crisis for me. The only one of my collection that looks any good still is this  Is it a sign of old age when with electric guitars only semi-acoustics look any good? Mark ..... Menoporsche!!!  |

The model I like is a '62 Reissue Made in Japan version, so yeah it's like the one above, slightly different, and with the luvverly double bound body  |

Almost too classy to be a 'crisis guitar' Thanks Martin - I think the Seymour Duncan/Seth Lover SH55 pickups I upgraded it with should mean it'll be the last of the 'leccys to go if I do eventually give up on them completely. I had several attempts at having Tele style guitars and couldn't manage to quite get any of them to click long term - which was very annoying. Now if I'd been Greg from that video with the Custom Shop '62 I could have made all of them sound good! In 2004 the company resurrected itself, but in order to be competitive on costs they had to move production from Sweden. Swedish made production ended in the early 1980s. The Viking Deluxe (where my "VikingBlues" name came from) which I have seems to go new for around £500 - £600 so it's not cut price rubbish - I've found it a very playable guitar, and built to a good quality standard. Now if I only had the playing skills of Matt Thorpe!! ..... |

However, when I went to try one I could hardly lift it off the wall hangar due to the weight so I didn't bother Looks nice that Tele though Martin............ Phil |
