Nice one Martin. That's a very cool set up, you've got there. Blackstar make some top amps. The trouble with the Super Champ is, it lacks bottom end. The Jaguarillo should give you plenty of tonal scope, too. Are you going to use the whammy bar? Thanks Graham! We loved the look of the Super Champ, but when I asked the sales guy to try small valve amps, he stupidly let me try the Blackstar first, and it really is spectacular for 5W. I made sure to try the Fender afterwards, and even though the size and style suited me much better, I just couldn't see past the HT-5. I was set on a red tele, specifically the bound MIJ 62 reissue. I was looking for it in GuitarGuitar when my 'bursar' spotted the Jag. It had no price tag, but she persuaded me to try it anyway. Honestly, I thought it was fantastic. It has a nice heavy alder body, a chunky maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, and the shorter scale makes it play beautifully. Its tone was so sweet, and it seemed to be built to a really high quality, with the finishing top notch. When I was told the price, I couldn't say "I'll take it!" quickly enough You're right about the tonal variation - there are five spots on the selector (like a strat), and each one is very different. My favourite clean spot is between the two single coils, and of course the humbucker is wild. I will probably try to use the whammy a bit, but I just haven't bothered to take it out of the gig bag yet

When I was told the price, I couldn't say "I'll take it!" quickly enough well, looking at their website it appears to be more than 50% off - proper bargain!

It's great when you go guitar shopping and are totally surprised by something you weren't even looking for. And the Mrs encouraging you, too. That's something I can only dream of. Mind you, I've really pushed my (GAS) luck, over the years.
When you put the whammy bar in, if it's a push in, rather than screw in, really give it a very firm push down, to start with. The old whammy can get quite addictive, it's so cool at the end of a meloduc phrase or big chord. Try a sequence of barred minor chords, with a bit of whammy at the tail end of each chord, it can sound delightful.
Oh yeah, nice colour, too.

Well, predictably the telecaster seller got back to me yesterday after a two day hiatus to let me know I could view it Still no address or time details. To her eternal credit, my good lady encouraged me to go ahead and try it if I wanted, but TWO electric guitars? That would be against some sort of UN Convention wouldn't it? Anyway, it's typical and annoying

Ah who knows! Probably not, as I'm a bit wary of this seller now and I love my new guitar

It sounds amazing...I just wish I remembered how to play anything that doesn't involve Travis picking With a setup like this I'd recommend to first: start practising scales second: have a look at this: Guitar Backing Tracks. makes practising scales much nicer

You, sir, are the epitome of cool and all that rawks!!! The three Blackstar amp looking boxes are part of the one thing, yes. The top one is a 5W amp and the other two are 12" speaker cabinets. It is officially called a 'mini-stack', but it's enormous!

I was sitting at the PC last night with the guitar on the overdrive channel, and all I got was high-pitched interference, so it looks like practising near the computer won't be pleasant.

as to direction, why not start with stuff like that? blues scalesI admit that the title sounds frightening, but the playing is fun.
