Yes, it is certainly a wee bit different. I won`t be taking inspiration from it for my Brook.

Sorry, I'm not keen on the head veneer! The rest of it is gorgeous though! I think the faux MOP goes well with metal bodies but the wood bodies are a little more austere. Anyway, I believe the Do'pyera bro's mother was very often heard to be screaming "who's nicked the toilet seat again"!

After a long delay I finally got a resonator. Just bought Wild Violet's Busker Cannon, so patience seems to have been rewarded. Looking forward to learning to play this sort of style.... Any recommended learning methods/materials or slides to use?

Good on yer' Martin ... I'm sure a Wolfram slide will help your sound I've got some slide guitar DVDs you're welcome to borrow ("Learn to play Bottleneck Blues Guitar 1,2 and 3 by Bob Brozman) - I think they're still in the shrinkwrap, working through the banjo one first!

Thanks Leo!
Very generous of you to lend me some DVDs. Might take you up on that, and can maybe return the favour with some banjo DVDs.

Any recommended learning methods/materials or slides to use? Great stuff Martin. Those Busker guitars are supposed to be really good. I was considering getting one before I ended up getting the Gretsch. Talking of which, I let some guy play it at the session last night. He was pretty hammered and was playing it really hard - left it with splatters of blood all over it :-(. Got most of it off but there's stiill some on the cone which will need to wait until i'm changing strings - manky!!

Any recommended learning methods/materials or slides to use? You beat me to it! I was giving serious thought to this guitar but... Serves me right. I hope you'll both be very happy. Alasdair.

I'd just like to chime in that the Bob Brozman instructional DVDs are really good for working your way into Delta blues, although he is insistent on using an actual bottleneck and wearing fingerpicks (in addition to a thumbpick).
My experience is that you'll need to experiment to find the slide that's best for you (I've settled on a piece of metal pipe I've had around since electric days for playing blues, because I couldn't get enough 'grind' from a real bottleneck), and fingerpicks, in my opinion, suck big time as the kids say.
If you're used to playing fingerstyle on a normal guitar with bare fingers it's not much of a big deal to use 0.13 strings or even heavier for slide without fingerpicks, especially tuned down.
If the resonator bug really bites, I'd suggest looking around for a tricone to try out. These are really nice for playing non-slide in open tunings like G and D. There's something about the tone, a little less brash than a single cone, that makes it really enjoyable to get a rhythmic piece going.
Mike Dowling is another musician/instructor well worth checking out whose range of material is a bit less restricted than Bozman in those DVDs.
