Well, CBM has landed! Actually, it arrived almost four hours ago, but I haven't had a chance to have a look until now.
I've opened it up and taken a few quick piccies, but at first glance....wow!

I've had a good long play now and it's as good as it looks!
I just need to get familiar with GDAD before recording anything, but yes I want to get something done on it. It's inspiring!

Just an update on this: The instrument needed a bit of time to settle, and Dave very kindly gave it an interim service for me during the summer to fine-tune the set-up. Well, I've been playing it a lot recently, and I think I'm liking it even more than before. The sound is incredible - full, lush and resonant, and exactly what I wanted in this type of instrument. The feel is fantastic - I'm a real fan of Dave's finish, being protective and yet making the OM so tactile - I just want to touch it and feel all the curves (steady!  ). The neck is just perfect, smooth and silky  It also looks gorgeous. The use of walnut on this instrument is inspired. The back and sides are very pretty, but the way the neck complements the body, especially at the beautifully worked heel is just great. Sorry to go on and on, but I thought it best to stick my slaverings here rather than start a new thread about it  Oh, and I still can't really play anything on it - I need to concentrate my playing time properly, rather than just playing the same notes and chords and enjoying the sound.... |
