Thanks chaps- the photo is courtesy of Simon at Brook. The tilework is all his work as well EWH Yes, very chuffed- it is even more beautiful than I remembered it a few weeks ago when I first saw it. What I hadn’t noticed then was the sheer beauty of the top- there is some very subtle bear claw in the wonderful piece of European spruce, all perfectly book matched. The sound is phenomenal- a real growl to it, almost like its got a Musicman hum bucker built in. Despite the scale length it is very easy to play, nice low action. Even the Elixir strings on it are brilliant. At the moment I am playing it with my usual short nails, and it really works. However, really dig in with the fingers (like ‘proper’ bass player’s technique) and there is a huge punch to the sound. Can you tell I am quite pleased? Robbie |
