davewhite is trying something a bit different with the headstock shape of my An Tairneanach Mór (Big Thunder) 12-er. I have to say that I love it - echoes of art deco for me... modern, rectilinear and symmetrical. I had this guitar down as "Emily" but the strong masculine shape is leading me towards my future son-in-law's middle name

Nice.
I'd need a stiff glass of whiskey or three to get me in the mood to restring a slot head 12.

Love the headstock shape, Leo! It's very elegant, and perhaps the slot head design will take some of the weight off that end of the guitar with all that metal on it

That's the reasoning Martin As for the trials of changing strings on a slot-head 12-er: it's only an issue if you actually plan to change the strings LOL

Good shape.
And restringing not a big deal if you are prepared to ... ahem ... cut the ends first, first wind to centre and then at least one wind to the edge. You will have to restring in order, going from bass E thin to bass E thick to bass A thin to etc. On the treble side start with the outside E and so on.

davewhite and Debbie are back from their Scottish sojourn and Dave wasted no time in getting back to the day job and sorting out the neck ... Shouldn't be too long now... end of May-ish

I know Torres used silver frets on his exhibition guitar FE08, but using gold frets seems to be a bit extravagant, I would think they'll wear pretty quickly as well, hold on maybe they are just 9ct. Yes that'll be it.
Never made a 12 string, maybe next year's 'just because I want to' guitar. Looking good Dave (and Leo), just to clarify, that's the guitar not Dave and Leo.
