After quite a bit hype about these I thought I'll pull the trigger on one.The display is very clear.I found it very fast .Its also has a strobe display which you can switch to which very accurate .It seems well put together(time will tell). On the downside I found the clip a bit awkward side as it has no swivel. Then again I've been used snarks for years. Also theres display that shows all strings in tune. Overall a impressive tuner if a bit pricey

I have just treated myself to one of these too. I echo all your points.
I find it clearer and a little more stable than my Snark. While not cheap, It certainly seems very well made and has a very robust spring clip that will outlast most. It fits nicely on the back of my Fylde and there is plenty of room for it to be left on when the guitar is in its case.
As something of a gadget freak and tuner-holic, this is my favourite so far.

I do agree with you points Brian.Whether it's me or not but I do seem to notice after tuning with this my guitar has a better ring to it.This will be my main tuner now. Thks Dave.

Looks like it works well and very accurately. Am I getting the wrong impression in thinking it only works for standard tuning, or standard tuning with a capo, or where ALL strings are down-tuned by the same number of steps. Maybe I'm missing seeing something glaringly obvious (again!). Ah well - one less thing to fuel my GAS if that is the case. Mark

How does the tuner work for alternate tunings? How accurate is for downtuned strings eg shifting down the lowest string to C?
I've had a Snark, but I think I might have been the only one person who had a suspect one. Irrespective of the battery it never quite functioned like it should do. My main tuner has been a cheap one I bought from Thomann which does the job reasonably well til now, but it's probably about time I upgrade to something a bit more accurate!

As far as I can tell from a further look-see, and my brain is so ineffective these days I could be totally wrong , the polytune clip tuner is chromatic and will recognise any notes individually in an altered / open tuning. So yes it can work in an altered tuning - BUT what it will not manage in altered tuning is to work in polyphonic mode showing all six strings at once - that is only available for standard tuning, for a capo applied up as far as fret 7 when in standard tuning or when all strings are detuned by the same amount and so retain the same relative intervals. Which, if I'm right, gives me an out and I don't need to be tempted by one. I'll just have to stick with my Snark. I don't use a tuner for the final tweak of the tuning anyway and just playing at home I can rely on sound and guitar body vibration for that final step, so even the extra accuracy of the Polytune would be wasted on me. It definitely works - and works well - with altered tunings. You can tune each note separately to any natural or sharp note (sharps are identified by a red dot next to the note letter).
One neat facility is that the display automatically reorientates itself as the tuner is rotated.

When tuning to a bass C no tuner wil be accurate - you have to use your ears!
This is a chromatic tuner so alternate tunings should be fine. Might be tempted.

Simp,y the lower the pitch the more difficult it is to fix the exact pitch in your head. And remember your tuner can give you a perfect pitch across 6 strings and yet. It will still sound wrong - one or two strings may need to be sharpened or flattened to seem right relative to the others! It could be worse - you could be a piano tuner!

Well, took the plunge, bought one of these and gave my usual kong tuner to my girlfriend. Yep, this is probably one of the best, most accurate tuners I have used. It got my octave mandolin,I. More in tune than I have ever been ble to get it. Simple to use, and a great display. The metal clip look butt ugly on the headstock of the guitar, but at least it is extremely well constructed.
