We didn't so much as touch the uke bodies, other than to admire the very nice, new binding that the elves must have installed while we were at the day job  The secret is out! All, these luthiers claiming that binding is extremely difficult and time consuming when, all the time, they have enslaved worker elves! Shame on the lot of youz...  |

Martin is the red apron in case you cut yourself - so the blood won't show? If so, why aren't you wearing brown trousers?

Martin, I found this fascinating. The bit that terrifies me is placing the bridge/saddle. I guess one slip and it's firewood.
Will you be posting a video/sound clip when it it finished?

It's all done now. It was a marathon session yesterday, 10am to nearly 9pm, but we managed to finish.

I arrived at the workshop yesterday morning for the last day of the build, so was looking forward to it, but a bit sad that after today that would be it. Still, there was a lot to be done before the end. It had become almost a regular thing to bring in home-made cakes and goodies to share as well, so it's not all about the ukes  Anyway, to business! First thing today was to make sure the fingerboards were glued to the necks.  As this was done before our official start time, before long we could remove the clamps and have a look at the complete neck - lovely  The missing frets and holes were put there to help locate the finerboard accurately on the neck as the glue initially makes the headstock/veneer contact a bit slippery   |
