Sure it's not a vertebra? Amazing to glue together two small pieces from inside two tree-trunks, and then to cut bits away until you reach a result like this. Positively sculptural - but also functional... Great progress, francis.

Beginning to come together. Plan view of the body internals: Another view of the internals: Soundboard face: Need to work on the neck parts now and get that fitted to the body before closing the whole thing up.... TBC

Not so much "preps" any more. You can almost see the finishing line. Great progress.
Knowing nothing about non-guitars, may I ask how much string stress one of these is under? Are they trying to fold in half? Is it traditional to use ye olde carbone fibres and what are they replacing?

Neck roughed out and dry fitted, the dovetails pin has been fitted to its body socket. Still need to splice the headstock to the neck. Waiting for some binding and veneer lines to arrive. The back isn't fitted yet and the way things are going it will be virtually the last thing to do. Francis

Yes, it will just be a sanding job on the face, may do a little on the bracing but at the mo it sounds pretty good. Once the box is closed and bound that will be the test as the back comes into play and that may need some voicing too.

Looking really nice francis ! I love the rosette. Is that Cocobolo in there? Thanks Rosie, it's a piece of Santos Rosewood veneer. I bought a 'bargain pack' of veneer pieces from a marquetry supplier some years ago and I'm slowly using the better pieces...

Great day today got to do some knife carving on the heel and headstock - couple of images: Will finalise the shape of the neck once the fretboard is ready. Francis

That is beautiful, the marquetry running around the sides is lovely. Must have been a pain to do though!
Well done Francis
