@robbiej - your video kept getting stuck after about 4 seconds... Is it just me or is anyone else having that issue? Strange, it works fine for me everywhere Phil

How strange. I will try to upload it again. Like I said, I had all sorts of issues last night, waiting 2 hours for an HD version to upload only for it to fail at the vert last second. I’m using work’s faster connection (whilst marking!) to try to upload it again, this time with the titles that I somehow got missed off last night.
Robbie
Edit: OK have now replaced the video with a new upload. Same performance

Yup, works fine now @robbiej, here and on F/B - lovely job and a beautiful tone throughout! Keith

That worked. Beautiful playing @robbiej. This is an interesting project. Yours is pretty far from the melody that I have in my head, although I can still hear it in your arrangement. I think mine may be a bit too close to the Bert Jansch version, although I wasn't quite sure how to get away from that. I was like, how does one arrange a melody without playing the melody? So I think some of my embellishments were my attempt at that. You have lovely tone, just as ocarolan says. And a nice clean video too. I'm not blessed with a space like that in my home. The first thing my wife said was OMG, look at that room! But, well, I can't lay claim to being responsible for that! Interesting to see your arrangement is in a C tuning too. I've never tried that particular variant - is that the one they call Orkney?

Whoa ocarolan! That was astoundingly good! I love that picking style and the groove and syncopation. Great singing too and the ending is perfect for the song. Very well done!

Terrific arrangement Keith. My girlfriend shouted in from the kitchen that she really liked it as well. Great drive to it, very Paul Simon like. Lovely

Wish I could sing, because I think this tune definitely works better with the lyrics as you, Leo and now Keith have done. Yes, CGCGCD is my go to tuning for noodling and coming up with ideas. Imthink Orkney is similar but with a 4th string of D, not C. Lovely tone on your guitar btw.

I'm full of admiration for all you guys. I'm not going to comment on individual entries, but the quality so far is outstanding. Bravo

D'you ever play in CGDGAD? I'll need to try your tuning and have some fun with it. El McMeen is the main purveyor of CGDGAD as far as I know and he's long been a favourite of mine. Incidentally, I was just looking through some old emails to find when I sold my Lakewood and turns out I bought some Newtones from you in about 2003! They were shipped to Luxembourg? You talked about your Bourgeois and having just got engaged. It's funny looking back now!

Flippin' 'eck - I was just waiting to see if anyone would bother to compete with Leo, then like buses three turn up at once! Only had a quick listen to them so far but impressed by Cam's melodic variations/embellishments, the tone of Robbie's sophisticated arrangement, and the engaging accompaniment to Keith's spot-on vocal delivery. Great work! Leo is still the one to beat though

Yes, I remember us having a conversation about your visit to Tamco years ago, you seemed particularly enamoured by a Fyle if I remember correctly. I was a regular member of the Celtic guitar talk forum. Alas the Bourgois is gone, regrettably! Rob

Tremendous interpretation, @robbiej (yes, the video works fine for me now!). Lovely to see the Brook Baritone being put to such good use - I loved the 'lower octave' rendition of the tune

Grand stuff ocarolan. When you said you were playing in Capo 3 I feared for some of the upper notes, but you nailed it A good strong rhythm throughout, too, really kept the narrative flowing. Happy days!
