I'm a covert. Ignore that Keith chap. Go for the fan! Pay attention at the back there! My comment was re the cutaway style. Keith

@francis, I feel a deep need to borrow one of your guitars for a day or two. This looks like my ideal guitar, fan fret or not.

The Jumbo progresses, the Lutz spruce top has been glued up and sanded leaving it over thickness at the moment. The back too has been glued up with a centre strip - that is still clamped up at the moment. All being well I'll give that an initial sanding later today.

Rosette is in place now. Top sanded to 3.15 mm ready for fine sanding when I get to close the box. Back also glued up with it's centre stripe which hopefully will blend in with the back purfling/binding.

Plans changed rather than the cherry back& sides I'm going to use an Amazique set. Although I'd already cut the cherry back shape being bigger than other guitar profiles all is not lost. No reason other than I belatedly thought the amazique would be more suited to the jumbo than the cherry....

R the F got to keep everyone awake somehow scripsit still multi-scale Looking at some side bending this weekend - build up the laminations next week once sides have dried out from the bend process (though I only give sides a light spray with water to start with). Also ordered some carbon fibre tow and resin that I may cap the braces with but I want to do a couple of test pieces first before jumping in on a full Falcate bracing set-up.

Reasonable progress today: Image shows the bindings, purflings and one set of side linings all steam bent and sitting in the body mould. The second set of linings are currently cooling off in the bender - I'll leave those where they are till morning. Next I'll go through the linings and select the best 3 for hot pipe work to form the cutaway. While I'm working on the cutaway the amazique sides can be bent. Need to find a lot of short lengths of timber (160 x 10 x 10 mm ish) ready to bond the laminations together. Going well so far....

Decided to complete the standard side bending of the actual sides and their linings before starting on the pipe bending for the cutaways... Image shows the two sets of side/liners plus the bindings and purflings for both front and back plates once the box is closed. Bindings are maple with black/white/black/white lines. Purflings are a dentil pattern: brown/black rectangles with black edges and white lines crossing the patterns - just about visible at the bottom.
