Bracing work today... Go-bar poles removed: Getting started: Phew: Initial stages complete - fine tuning now needed: Bit more tapping before I prep the brace tops for the carbon fibre tow.

Ah, I can see the braces now. Your cats aren't as talented as I first thought.

Continuing to whittle away the braces - top too stiff at the mo, great ring when tapped but once glued to the sides it will be too stiff. Being a bigger bodied guitar I don't want it to be too bass heavy so a little stiffness will help.
Back to the knife...

Started laying the CF tow onto the braces. Just mixed a small batch of resin to start with to see how things went. Semi close-up of a brace pair coated More general view of the coated braces: The resin and hardener: Resin mixed by weight at 100:30 resin/hardener, thanks go to Cafe Nero et al for the great flexible wooden stirrers idea for applying resin to the tops of braces and smoothing out the CF tow

Neat job, Francis.
It will be interesting to see how the stiffness with tow compares to the full girder effect, with tow underneath the braces as well.
How tall are your braces at the highest point?

Looks like a very tricky job to keep the fibres smoothly following the curve of those braces. You like to make life interesting for yourself, don't you? Great work. I'd be interested to know how high the braces are, too.

Left the soundboard for now, working on the back plate. That's now glued on: Test fit: Glued-up: I've cleaned up the squeeze-out from the interior joint line, the outside will be dealt with when I cut the binding rebates. Think about assembling the neck parts next so they cure while I finish off the soundboard and close the box.

Run out of colour, eh? Or is a black and white guitar cheaper? leoroberts Just testing your eyesight Leo.... Real reason is that it was photgraphed under mixed fluorescent and daylight and the colour looked really weird - so knock out the colour and this are OK

The box is now closed - leaving clamped up for a while before starting the edge clean-up with a flush cut bit. Makes a great drum at the mo...
