Using birdseye maple for the truss rod cover so I thought something appropriate to maple would be a change: Just waiting for the new strings - come on postie...

A stylish truss rod cover to go with the soundhole rosette thingy. Excellent work

OK a teaser: The next project for the drawing board. Based on a Robert Benedetto Manhattan archtop. Illustration from his book "Making an Archtop Guitar": Just looking at the main material sources at the moment, adornments can come later...

Now that is a build I shall follow very, very closely.

It's a good guide-book, francis. He doesn't treat you like an idiot or a genius; just hits the right tone.

Even better with strings! Fanning the frets seems to make the saddle intonation pattern jolly interesting!

That's a gorgeous guitar, Francis. Your instruments get better and better every time.
For me though, I just can't get used to the wonky bridge, and the false perspective given by the fan frets. I know it's not done for appearance, but I just couldn't own one. There can be no improvement in tone that would make me forget the (for my sense of aesthetics) jarring appearance.
I'm just shallow, I guess.
Mind you, I can see what a high quality instrument you have created. As Keith says, I'm looking forward to hearing it.

Thanks scorpiodog Keith has played the Triple O version of my fan frets, this one wasn't playable until a couple of days after he visited. However, because I've not used a big difference in the scale lengths and the position of the null fret at #9 it plays very much like a 'normal' guitar - have a word with Keith but I will bring (both) up to Halifax and look forward to seeing you reaction when you try it. That's been the reaction of a couple of local musicians who've tried it. Perhaps we should blindfold you and try you with a few guitars to get over the prejudice on fan frets...

Fan frets. I'm a convert. Surely you mean you're a fan... I think scorpiodog is a fan of frets but finds fan frets fanciful. andyhowell, on the other hand, is a fanatical fanboy for his fancy fan frets. I hope that's cleared things up.
