Stunning looks. I do like the contrast twixt the neck and the B/S.

Thanks Martin and Leo. Due to a bit of a "Sebastian" moment the neck is thinner than I intended but as it's the last neck bit of "The Tree" I have that's how it will be. One person said that with her thin lithe body "Nancy" reminded him of a Les Paul so maybe it's just destiny

It’s now time to make some bridges starting with “Nancy”. The Rio Rosewood bridge blank is sanded on the top to match the top’s curvature: The saddle slot is then routed using this jig: The rear of the bridge is ramped and the bridge-pin holes drilled and countersunk: The rest of the bridge is then shaped: The bridge is carefully positioned on the top and the outer two bridge-pin holes are drilled through: The bridge is held on with two ebony bridge pins through these holes: The process for making “William’s” bridge is similar but a bit more complicated as it has four pairs of strings. Here are the two love birds bridged and re-united:

The smelly phase... (I mean the dead-cat lacquer).

More progress on “William” The position for the bridge is scribed and the lacquer carefully removed: Then the bridge is glued on using hot hide glue: The label is signed and glued in: Not so good with “Nancy” though – my fears that the neck was too thin proved correct as tightening the truss rod pushed it through the neck at the headstock anchor point: The good news though is that I was incorrect in thinking that was the last of “The Tree” neck wood – rummaging in the dustier recesses of my workshop I found one final Lawson’s Cypress neck blank. Lose some, win some . I'll be able to reuse the carbon fibre rods, truss rod and fretted fingerboard from the old neck and making a new neck awaits.

You have my sympathy, Dave. When something actually gives way, it makes you wonder how many camels' backs are just waiting for one more straw...

Setting up “William” involves fitting the Gotoh tuners and nut to the neck, bolting on the neck, reaming and slotting the bridge pin holes, fitting the bone saddles, fitting the strings and dialling in the desired action and playability by adjusting the neck relief with the truss rod, cutting the nut slots and setting the saddle heights. Here’s “William” finished: While he’s waiting for “Nancy’s” broken neck to heal “William” is practicing his stuff. Here he is playing Martin Simpson’s “Air for Maurice Ogg/The Plains of Waterloo” in GDAD recorded using my Zoom H4N with flat EQ and no added effects. “Air for Maurice Ogg/The Plains of Waterloo”
