Thanks Richard, Rob and "like-lurkers". The neck is then carved. The fingerboard is radiused: Then the gold EVO frets are pressed in: Here’s the fretted neck on the body:

The back and sides are then pore filled using egg white – 240 grit sandpaper is dipped into the egg white and sanded on the back and sides to make a wood-slurry that is pushed into the pores. The egg white acts as a binding agent and the pores are effectively filled by the same wood dust: Ah yes, the old Jamie Oliver filler technique - works a treat

I do it but it's not nice. (And then there's the wasted yokes...)

No need to waste the egg yokes - creme caramels for me and colins uses his in egg-nogs.

The position for the bridge is scribed and the lacquer carefully removed: Then the bridge is glued on using hot hide glue: The label is signed and glued in: Even “selfish, snobbish” luthiers like me sometimes don’t quite get things quite right but it’s never too late to make changes. With the bound sound-hole rosette taking away the usual inner spruce ring of the top I decided that visually the Madagascan Rosewood bindings weren’t working in tying in the rosette – it took the eye completely like a big black hole and the sides looked too dark and deep. I decided that Cuban Mahogany bindings would break up the look of the sides and tie in with the rosette and neck and so replaced the Madagascan Rosewood bindings with them. Setting up the instrument involves fitting the Gotoh tuners and nut to the neck, bolting on the neck, reaming and slotting the bridge pin holes, fitting the bone saddles, fitting the strings and dialling in the desired action and playability by adjusting the neck relief with the truss rod, cutting the nut slots and setting the saddle heights. Here’s the finished guitar. At the end of 2015 my eldest daughter bought a narrowboat called “Little Lucy” that where she lives on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal and I wrote a tune called “Little Lucy” in honour. Now there’s a “Little Lucy” living on”Little Lucy” as well – our first grandchild – and so I’ve re-named the tune “Little Lucys”. Here it is played on “Daithi”: "Little Lucys"Thanks for listening and following “Daithi’s” creation.

A fab build thread! Thanks Dave. Congrats to you Dave on your 100th instrument and your first grandchild - the former looks and sounds gorgeous, and no doubt the latter does too, except during the night. Congrats to the bargees, and congrats to all the Lucy's! Looking forward v much to playing this guitar at Halifax Keith

I love the '100' feature on the end thingy-wotsit..... I love the idea, but each time I see it I find it hard to get the ginger-haired one out of my mind.... Sorry about that Dave, but thankfully your 100 logo couldn't be mistaken for a meat and two veg graffito! Keith

I concur with what Keith says: great concise thread and a superb result. Congratulations on becoming a granddad!
