This is the guitar I put the previous build on hold for. It's a non cutaway, with 14 frets to the body, soundboard is Lutz spruce, back and sides Lacewood (London Plane), neck mahogany with padauk head veneer and detailing. Sides have been bent using a heat blanket on my "Fox styled" bender, much more consistent than the light bulbs previously. Linings added, front (Falacte pattern with carbon fibre/resin laminations) and back (live back pattern) have been braced. Currently working towards assembling and closing the box. Scribing the sides over a 15 foot radius dish: Linings added: Tail detail to match the rosette theme: Centre reinforcement platelets and their positioning jig: The jig is no more than a shaped lolly stick, the pencil line is aligned with the centre join and the spacing is automatic as the jig is butted up against either a brace or the previous platelet. TBC.

I just love lacewood so it'll be great to see what you make of it, Francis. I've already made a few notes of how you have done things - very nice simple "jigs", just the way I like them.

Pre-closure images: Interior has been given a sealer coat to minimise moisture take-up later.

I know what you're up to, Francis; you're going for the shortest ever complete build thread, aren't you?

Nice looking wood, and pretty bracings too. I've always wondered why guitars aren't usually treated on the inside.

Closed body with padauk bridge loosely placed Snakewood binding Bridge Neck bolt drilling jig Neck bolt drilling jig fits both into the body mortice and around the neck tenon. The top plate registers on the soundboard and the neck. Works well on neck angles of about 1.5Ā° - 2Ā°.

Gorgeous looking guitar, Francis!
I also love the Lacewood, and aesthetically, this build is just wonderful with the really tasteful rosette and sleek understated design.

Can't go wrong with snakewood binding Francis š I admit I do like snakewood as a binding material. In this instant I felt that it provided enough contrast with the body materials whilst its natural pattern blended well with the lacewood.

Time to get this build back on track... I sprayed this at the same time I sprayed the rosewood parlour and with the parlour now collected there's no excuse (apart from finishing the kitchen - must eat!). So I spent a couple of hours last night polishing like mad and today I've cut back through the finish to expose the bridge position and glued the bridge on. Something I've been doing on pinned bridges now is to thread the cawl under the bridge and use machine screws to clamp the bridge. I make the bridge with a very slightly shorter radius than the soundboard so the wings are made to contact when the screws are tightened. I rub a light smear of candle wax on the cawl before gluing this way so glue that is pushed down through the pin holes doesn't glue the cawl in place too Leave now for a couple of days before I remove the machine screws. The sweeze out I will deal with once the glue has gelled but not hardened.
