What's not to like? Beautiful Francis. The figuring on the fingerboard is as stunning as the rest of the guitar.

That’s a great job well done.
How did you get in with building the “Live Back”?
I have just started taking ideas from the Gore Gillet books and wonder what difference the live back has made to the overall timbre of the sound on your Lacewood.
Did use use a spectrum analyser to get the four semitones of difference. If so would love to know how that went.

Control over its tap tone is via the thickness of the long back brace. It's scalloped out in the center and taking away more material from there changes the response quite quickly. I have used the spectrum analyser on earlier guitars but in all honesty I prefer to tap and listen. I have an oval rubber eraser on the end of an unsharpened pencil I use to tap both front and back plates. - works for me as they say The Gore - Gilet books are good but I'm finding I'm going to them less and less. I played a lacewood back and side guitar at the Holly Grail show. It was styled after a Gibson J model — it was a great guitar.

Time to get this build back on track... I sprayed this at the same time I sprayed the rosewood parlour and with the parlour now collected there's no excuse (apart from finishing the kitchen - must eat!). So I spent a couple of hours last night polishing like mad and today I've cut back through the finish to expose the bridge position and glued the bridge on. Something I've been doing on pinned bridges now is to thread the cawl under the bridge and use machine screws to clamp the bridge. I make the bridge with a very slightly shorter radius than the soundboard so the wings are made to contact when the screws are tightened. I rub a light smear of candle wax on the cawl before gluing this way so glue that is pushed down through the pin holes doesn't glue the cawl in place too Leave now for a couple of days before I remove the machine screws. The sweeze out I will deal with once the glue has gelled but not hardened. I thought that was a Waterloo bridge for a moment with the glue showing Phil
