There's also the Europe thing. Richard tends to bring in a fair few guest performers from Germany in particular and I know that our dear friend Bernd is in two minds about coming over for Halifax.

That does seem odd given the expectation that so many social events will be opening up around about then. Including our own gathering, which will be closely organised in accordance with all current guidance and restrictions as they may apply in September, I hasten to add. Canny wait!

I'm getting through my content and really enjoying going through these wonderful conversations and music videos. One of my favourite people that I've got to know through RMMGA and Acoustic Soundboard is Richard Knott. It was such a treat to get to sit down and have a decent conversation with him and I sincerely hope that we get to meet again this year. This is one to watch with a glass of your favourite tipple or a pot of tea. Riverman

I very much enjoyed that Cams Cams ...a very relaxed blether with some carefully chosen inserts ...kept my attention throughout. Thanks Andrew!

I love these Cams . I do have a fear that you have some never seen footage of me singing somewhere !!! (No rush ....) You're safe Andy. I think I have some of the songwriting workshop though!

I'm working my way through the copious amounts of content that I've been depriving you all of since 2019 and possibly even before that. Time and circumstances -- mainly mental health related as some of you know -- got in the way of my best laid plans. I lost my mojo.
My newly found path into making content around recovery is awakening in me the drive and passion to pay attention to my creativity and to stop ceding power to my fear. Which is all a rather flowery way of saying here's a new video and stay tuned for more over the coming weeks and months!
Richard Lindsay is an inspiration and it was a real treat to get a chance to sit down and have a blether with him on camera. Enjoy!

A Taylor 314ce was in contention to be my first decent guitar. It lost by a hair to a Lakewood M14. The Taylor and the J45 are very different instruments. If you play more fingerstyle, I'd suggest the Taylor over the J45. If you're more of a strummer, I'd give the J45 the edge. YMMV of course.

I love this guy's music, and he's a fun bloke too. I recorded an interview with him at Springhill last year for my podcast:

As some of you know, most of my live gigs over the past 7 years have been at a local restaurant here on Arran called Crofters. It started out as Fiddlers Music Bar and I played in there up to three times a week during high season. It's owned by a friend of mine and fantastic musician, Dónal. Before lockdown, he had some Big Plans to expand the business, but naturally these strange times have put paid to all of that. After lockdown, they restructured the business so they could continue to operate. Part of that restructuring was to spin off the music side as a separate entity. One of Dónal's old schoolfriends Dave Town runs a live sound and PA hire business out of Glasgow and, like the rest of us, was 'enjoying' some enforced downtime. He came up with the idea of using some unused office space to set up a studio for independent musicians and venues to come in and record gigs to go out over the Internet. Dónal was his first client and he booked up 10 days in the studio last month. All the regular acts from Crofters were invited to book a day and go over to Glasgow and record as much as was possible in the allotted time. I did a full day with Dónal joining me on guitar and fiddle for about two thirds of it and it was an amazing experience. The studio space was perfect and the sound and video engineers was so laid back and easy to work with. The sound guy was in a control room and the video guy was recording on two professional cameras. All together we got 25 tracks done. The first of these concerts is going out tonight at 8pm and costs £5 to watch. The artist is Tim Pomeroy, a local celebrity of sorts as a sculptor. He's one of the most sensitive players and singers that I've seen, with a very folky style of playing on his two beautiful Taylor guitars. The ticket price is split three ways, with I believe 40% going to the artists. The broadcasts are going to be edited into one hour each and going out I believe every Friday night with the option of using the catch-up option after the broadcast goes out. Take a look at this link for some teaser content and to buy a ticket tonight if you're of a mind to. I'm sure that the good people of this forum will enjoy Tim's playing, and take heart is supporting independent music. My first video is scheduled to go out on 27 November, but all the artists going out are well worthy of your fiver, I can guarantee that! myplayer.uk/croftersHere's my promo video: myplayer.uk/content/10/1023-cams-campbell-promoAnd some photos from my day in the studio: www.cams.photo/Live-Music/Blackbox/Hope to see you 'at the gig'!

I can relate to the sore fingers! I played a full day in a studio a couple of weeks ago after having not played much at all. It was super fun, but yeah, the fingers!

That sucks. I had the same thing happen once on a Gibson guitar and returned it straight away for a refund. Strangely I always kinda regretted that, because it was a killer guitar and the shop was gonna have it repaired by a luthier and then I'd get a discount, but I stood by my decision and think you should do the same.
Get a refund and take a look at the used D-18 in the classifieds here. That's what I'd do!
