I was going to say "well worth the wait", but we didn't really have to wait at all. Great clip Kym. Thanks so much for sharing. Cheers, marcus

Thanks for the wonderful review Kym... it's really interesting to hear all the thought processes that went into this guitar coming together. Looking forward to hearing any soundclips and your review of your slothead. The guitar looks spectacular. Cheers, marcus

I'm getting the impression there's a fair bit of repressed "bling-envy" around here... if you've got it, flaunt it Thanks for the info on your Spiras Kym!

Hi Kym,
I'd be interested to hear what local guitars you've got. Is that a Spira in your avatar?
Cheers, marcus
Oh, and so as not to derail this thread, I love the size and shape, but could also do without the inlay.... and then, by jove, it would be a great deal more affordable.

How come you still have your shirt on and why aren't you holding a flare? Isn't that what is supposed to happen at a European soccer match?

I've been enjoying listening to a bit of Bert Jansch recently. Although the lyrics are a bit of a downer, I really love the playing on Needle of Death. I thought it would be nice to try and learn the fingerpicking and in doing a youtube search I came across this cover by Lewis D Lancaster. You guys may already know of him.... I think he does a wonderful job with this tune... Needle of Death

Thanks Phil... but I'm actually just as keen to see pics of your Lyn... once I get the Torridge I will be able to stare at it to my heart's content! May even get around to playing it when the time is right...

Alasdair... are you thinking of coming out here for the next series or heading to the next England-based Ashes series? If the former and you will be making it to the East coast, let me know... but be sure not to visit me with your mates.... Barmy army, Barmy army, Barmy army

Alasdair, that's very kind of you indeed. I'd really appreciate the chance to see this.
But, surely by now you've sated your appetite for watching woeful Aussie batsmen crumble in the face of competent English bowling... have you not heard of the dangers of indulging in "too much of a good thing"? All's I can promise is an excellent case of sunburn if you make it down this way and get your gear off...
Hmmm, on second thoughts, I could buy you tickets for day four or five of a test... that way I'd be guaranteed a refund...

Nice choice of bindings Phil... it will be great to see this under finish.
I just received a photo of my in-progress Torridge. The box is closed but no bindings yet. Do you know if the Brook fellows build in batches? Perhaps our guitars will be finished at around the same time...

Hi Calv,
I don't know about Takamines but I briefly owned a Santa Cruz 1929 00 with a V neck that I just couldn't bond with. I looked into having the neck shaved (contacted both SCGC and a local luthier) and was told that it was a fairly risky procedure owing to the truss rod in the neck (and that it would be very difficult to make the finished neck match the rest of the guitar as it had a sunburst finish). It was also going to be pretty expensive... Despite the fact that I really liked the tone of the guitar I ended up selling it.
That's just my experience... Takamines may be different.
Cheers, marcus
