Isn't this wonderful playing on a superb guitar? Chris Whitfield should be a professional guitar player.

Lovely sound and beautiful woods...fine playing too! The only niggle for me is the scratchplate....firstly it's position looks too close to the bridge to provide strumming protection and secondly why have one on a guitar like this anyway? I'm probably missing something... Standard position for a teardrop pickguard on an OM as far as I can tell.

Lovely addition to your collection of Bown Guitars Mark. I look forward to getting my hands on it before too long. Cheers Vic Yes, I'll be hanging on to this one for a long time - however my cocobolo Bown OMX is being played less and less so will be going into the classifieds soon! Mark The OMX has a new home with me. If I can make it in September it will be brought along.

Sorry, sold for slightly more than £15 £17.50? I did indeed pay a bit more than £17.50! Export problems no longer an issue, I'll have the guitar with me in July at Ian's do.

My friend Paul Metsers home in Kendal was burgled last night and his 6 string Sobell Appalachian Dulcimer was stolen. Can anyone who sees or hears of one of these rare instruments being offered for sale please let me know and do anything possible to notify the police etc. They also broke the neck on his Sobell Mandocello. Some of you will heard of Paul who is a singer songwriter most famous for his song Farewell to the Gold. He's had the dulcimer since the 80s and written many songs on it so he needs it back soon!! Thanks

Blimey! It all looks very posh. Like the look of the slot head, in the last pic. Mark Slaski's 1999 Ralph Bown 00-12 I am pretty sure.

I think the threshold value is £38 from outside of EU HMRC website has the details but needs a bit f effort to track it down Actually it is goods value of £15. Above that and you pay duty and VAT on the goods value and the shipping costs plus a handling fee from the importer as well. Royal Mail is around £8.50. Some US shops have a postage rate that includes import costs.
