Funnily enough, pre this thread, I had been looking at folk clubs in my area. Much of this thread so far has put me off, particularly with the references to music stands and more so the below par performers. Don't get me wrong, if i the unlikely event I ever performed live, I would be well over practiced and hopefully would not need the stand. I would also be far less entertaining than Leo and Keith with music stands. I understand that if people have paid for entertainment there should be a relevantly high level of entertainment and that perhaps is what a folk club is. I do not know as I have never been to one. All that said fatfingerjohn 's club sounds great!

Bob - David Hutton has one of these, mentioned in the thread 'Electric' guitars and loudness' in the General section. It seems like a great idea. I often feel inhibited by the thought of my neighbours listening, but I wonder if it might be cheaper just to buy an electric and not bother with an amp? Yes, absolutely love my SLG200n. Its nylon so I think a little more silent than the steel string version. I agree it a little disappointing through the THR5A and can't be ta-pity tapped. A good thing! I use it for practice and it but sounds great through the head phones. If mine went a missing I would buy another (assuming I had the money, which I never have) in a heart beat. Might go for the full classical version though. Perhaps I could bring it to Halifax if I can arrange to go and anyone is interested in trying.

I am a bit of a Mark Kozelek fan. Luckily he loves Bristolians also. I quote from UK blues:
Off to Manchester, then to Bristol Had a show on a boat, it was half full Guy in the front, heckled me all night Skin was a sickly mix of grey, pink, and white Went back to my room, more riots on the news Homesick as f@~#, I got the UK blues
Bristol, Bristol Cobblestone streets, people missing teeth Bristol, Bristol Is this really what people eat?
I really must stop this heckling!

I have a one and love it. I use it for practising (not that you would know) at night. Its the one on the right!!! Mine is nylon strings, but not the full classical. I play mine mainly through headphones. I have never recorded anything on it which is a bit unfair on her really. Might put that right to tonight.

Its obviously a fake right from the start! The note reads Enjoy your day off, but would read something like:
1. Move your guitar from the sofa. 2. Blocked the downstairs toilet, please unblock 3. Clean children's football boots 4. Paint garden fence 5. Cook tea. Beef Wellington followed by baked alaska, please. 6. Build new wardrobe 7. Do the ironing ...

Tommy Emmanuel .....lousy musician, Colin Really?? I think he has tremendous musicality. Not only in the way he performs his own tunes, but in his ability to improvise when accompanying another guitarist or singer. I find his natural understanding, interpretation and application of scales quite astonishing at times. Yeap I agree. I also get why people dislike him. He does like to perform, and often clips show him going 1000000 miles an hour as possibly its the the thing that makes him stand out. That said he really can hold a tune and I like him best when with someone that can reign him in a little. I particularly liked him when he played with Chet. On Musical Essence v Technical perfection, I do not think you need either! I am lacking on both but the music I produce, well its a bit special!

Yes, for the guitars I make I'll only fit the K&K, if a customer wants a different pickup, well he can get someone else to fit it! No, the customer isn't always right, I find that usually they need their opinions steered in the right direction! I'm going to fit the classical K&K into James Daubney's guitar, it'll be a first for me in a nylon string guitar. Colin Interesting Colin as I am very much thinking about putting one of these in the All English. Reading the instructions it all seems relatively straight forward for a normal person, but unfortunately I'm me. But don't worry I will probably have a crack (not literally) on my lesser guitar first.
