Sister Josephine is a song I play regularly and never fails to get a warm reception I tried to have a go at On Again but the timing is fiendishly difficult and the lyrics, well to be diplomatic they are a bit 1970's
But yes Keith a wonderful opening line

I will reinvigorate this thread cos I like it. So here's another tip that works for me (when I remember anyway) - make sure each time you practice you have a goal in mind (however small). I attempted to put down lots of useful tips I wish I remembered when I'm playing in my still-active blogI think that is very good advice, It is very easy to sit in your practice area and not practice, by that I mean just playing all your regular songs. I found it helped my to be disciplined about my practice so I try (don't always succeed) to break down my practice into 1 Playing my regular stuff that I play out at guitar nights 2 Practicing Scales (usually and the beginning of a session to loosen up. 3 Separate time for learning new songs, styles and chords 4 Separate time for songwriting.(usually 2.30 am when I wake with a lyric going round in my head) yes I know that if you are working with a family that this amount of time can be difficult and I am lucky I am retired. I try to keep a sheet as a progress record which you can get here helps balance what you do www.justinguitar.com/en/PA-000-BlankPaper.phpLastly I always think of playing guitar as being like a gunfighter. There will always be someone faster and better than you. Play to enjoy and entertain not to be the best Enjoy

He also writes some very good stuff about ordinary people which resonate, Hello in There is a good example also Donald and Lydia and Your flag decal won't get you into heaven
I discovered him a few years ago when a friend played Hello In There at an acoustic night and i thought what a great song. I don't understand why he is relatively unknown in Europe and the UK bit Like Townes van Zant. is it because Euopean people can't appreciate that type of song.writing?

Found a very nice wife swapping club where I swopped my DLM for a pair of Linn speakers, sadly on the left hand speaker the tweeter was gone and it had no woofer on the right so the swop had to be reversed. I still think he got the best of the deal

My Domestic line manager deemed that we have a short break away from the toil and strife that is the retirees lot. She refused to countenance the 3 year farewell world tour that is being performed as I speak by Lord Elton of John, So we booked a break , (apprehensively on my part) to the Nidd Hall hotel in the Peoples Republic of N Yorks.
On the last night I went into the reading room (more like a hall) and there were 3 ladies tuning their various instruments and voices. I thought this looks interstring (see what I did there). So we waited around for the concert which turned out to be 2 half hour sets, All I can say it was brilliant. The blonde lady whose name I think is Adele has perfect pitch and a 3 Octave range the other two well see for yourself, here are a some of what our friend in the north would call "Choons "
They sound a lot better live than on YT
