Just been looking at Phils spec. for his custom Brook Lyn. It just got me thinking about why do 12 fret guitars have slotted heads on them. I `ve looked on google images and all the small bodied 12 fretters have a slotted headstocks. Is this neccessary? My other point about them is, how much is the bridge moved back by, is it the length of the two frets that you lose? Cheers Steve.

Thanks for posting the review Keith, it`s a great shame that all the old forum reviews of members guitars cannot be accessed anymore. Love the new tune, a suprising ending. Cool.

It`s a strange feeling being excited about something you have ordered but will not see it for 10 months.A bit like an overdue baby but less painful for the missus!!

Well after much thought about what size and spec. guitar i wanted, as this will be my only guitar when it is ready. I have sold my J45TV and will sell my 00-15m custom when my hew one is ready, will also sell my Perkins Parlour. I have gone for a Brook Taw in figured mahogany and sitka spruce, with a sunburst finish and rosewood binding. Ebony fingerboard with diamond and dots markings. The nut width is 45mm with 1 1/4 string spacing at the bridge ,same as the Lyn model. I may have a pickguard and pickup fitted but have plenty of time to make my mind up. It came down to the Taw or short scale Tamar which is a small jumbo size, as i don`t do any strumming or very little anymore, i thought i would be to big. I was then thrown a curve ball by the custom deep bodied Taw that `stamper` off the AGF has, some bass on it to say the least. So, the deed is done, just 10 months to wait!! If i do get a wobble about any thing, at least there is time to change it.

Martin, it may be worth having a look on `Busker Guitars` website. They make different types of Resonators around the price who have been given. They are very well regarded by players. You also get to choose how you want your guitar set up ,as well as plenty of advice about resonators in general. Steve.

Thanks for that Robbie, i will check out Mairants website. I thought the Tavy was made in 650mm or 630mm scale. I will check it out again. Hope you are more than pleased with your newbie. I`m sure you are. Steve.

Hey Steve, something that might be of interest to you is that Forsyths may be stocking Brook guitars in the near future. At last Brook now have an outlet somewhere between London and Aberdeen (quite literally), Robbie p.s the video is great, though Andy has considerably less hair these days! That is interesting, after agreeing to a deal for my J45TV.,( i just don`t do any strumming anymore) . I am concluding this on Saturday, and moving some other things on. I am going to have a good look for something OM size or just a bit bigger. I have been checking out The Brook website, as they are top of my list. I am looking for something that is bigger than my 00-15 mahogany. This has a 1 3/4 inch nut width and the J45 has a1.725 inch nut width. The standard Brook seems to sit right in the middle of these two, and the 630m scale is appealing to me. I noticed that they actually do a Martin style OM, as 90% of what i play is Blue/ country Blues this may be a possibility. Although a mahogany/ spruce Taw OR Tamar are the ones that have really caught my eye. Sorry for rambling.
