Young lad (he's only 20 - that's very young as far as I'm concerned!) is having a D28 style guitar made. I'm building this in IER and Sitka spruce, Mahogany neck. X-braced top and ladder braced back. So pretty standard. Made a start today with a bit of side bending. Sand the top and back to their respective thickness' next and prep the bracing. TBC...

Profiled the sound board edge last night and added it's kerfed linings. Today the back has been profiles to body depth and linings added.

Lovely piece of rosewood, Francis. Can do without the GAS, though. Inflating close to bursting. Vinny

Hi Francis, yet another fascinating build thread. Is there any particular reason you've used mahogany for the braces on the back? Or doesn't it matter much? Iain

I've built a few dreadnoughts now and I've always used mahogany for the back braces - just went with what I've always done. That's my theory anyway

Soundboard given a coat of white polish as a sealer to fingermarks. Bindings and purflings now fitted and the process of fitting and shaping the neck has begun:
